I think stumbleupon is great because you at least get some exposure to those who may not otherwise know your blog exists. However, I wonder how often my blog would show up when people stumble, because it does not have a lot of reviews.

i find the traffic from SU is temporary and not indicative of *real* traffic which makes me question the quality of the readers stumbling the particular blog. My blog was stumbled some months back and my traffic went up 4-5 times but that only lasted about a week or so. not that i think my blog is a bad quality blog (at least I don't think so) but i think that most of the readers that do random stumbling just move on and don't come back. digg traffic is kind of the same way -- you'll get the spikes but it's only temporary. to keep getting more, you'll have to keep getting dugg or stumbled.

now i am not sure whether it is related to my SU spike but my traffic has steadily gone up to about 50 readers more a day as compared to 6 months ago.

wish i bookmarked some articles i read about quality of SU traffic in recent months so that i can reference it but basically they were questioning it the same way i do. They ended up with the conclusion that quantity of readers doesn't necessarily mean quality readers especially with digg and SU.
