If you take some time to sort through some of the lousy designs you can find some real gems at less than $100. If you already have a decent traffic/pagerank site you might even score a discount for linking back to the designer. The first is money. With TypePad, the more you pay, the more options you have for customization. The second is a combination of a determination to do it myself, and a lack of knowing what I'm doing. ;) Thanks for the tip on what a coder might cost. I was really curious about that.
