So, you know my idea for a new blog (http://www.theblogexperiment.com/blog-forum/showthread.php?t=85), well I was pretty sure the idea wasn't unique but hadn't done much research about it. I just figured it would be great to be able to share my experiences (successes and failures alike).

But since yes, I would love to be able to monetize this blog eventually, I guess I should be aware of what's out there and who my competition will Be. Jelena showed me a blog with the same idea: CommunitySpark.com

I only spent a few minutes browsing through it but it looks like a pretty solid resource. So how do I make myself different and how do I stand out?

One way will be based on me and my experiences obviously. I'm not new to running a community although I am new to starting one from scratch. So the stories I tell will come from that perspective.

I'm curious.. When you start a niche blog, how do you make yourself stand out from your competitors?

Well if you start a niche blog you're not going to have much competition.

The very definition of 'niche' implies there's going to be limited or no competition. But I digress.

Forum / community management isn't a niche, there's lots of stuff out there,
http://www.theadminzone.com/index.php comes to mind, as well as the communities for each forum/whatever package that's in wide use.

You need to offer more. Like full galleries of SG chickies.

well, there is stuff out there.. so maybe I should say a particular genre... and no, no SG chicks I'm afraid.

"Forum/Community management for parents of midgets with eating disorders running a forum"

and no, no SG chicks I'm afraid.
Count me out.
