What is it about typing stuff up and having other people read it that drives you to continue doing it?

I do it for a mixture of reasons. I like having a place to vent my frustration and urge to talk about something that people around me may not have an interest in hearing about. The thing about blogging is you can say what you want and get if off your chest, even if there's no one there.

I like to be able to share information that actually helps others. Of course, getting paid to do it doesn't hurt either.

What first appealed to me most about blogging was simply that it allowed me to talk. My friends aren't designers/coders, so I can't talk to them about web design etc.

Having a blog gives me a place to share everything I know, talk about ideas I have, and give my opinion on something, then have others come back with theirs. It's just the best way of learning that I can think of.

Beyond that, I can build my credentials with it. I can use it to generate design leads for myself, or even just to say "I have a blog. People do value my opinion." It's a nice feeling. :)

Several reasons actually. My first blog was a place for me to learn about blogging and was also my sandbox for playing around with some of my code and my ideas. On other blogs, I blog about professional topics. I like to share the info and help people but it also allows helps brand me online which is important when your business is online. The blog here at TBE is meant to serve a few purposes:

1. Provide good content to the community here
2. Show website news
3. The weekly wrapup posts help give an overview of what's been happening here in the forums and also give the member's who started great threads, a little link love (this one will be a candidate)

Why not blog?
1. It's a good place to vent feelings that you don't want to burden your friends with.
2. You can state your opinion without interruption... and others can comment without interruption.
3. You can pass on tips and other helps to people who might need them.
4. You can 'strut your stuff' without being arrogant or stuffy.

I wanted a space where I could write freely and have fun with it, without being so aware of the content, like when I write for others. So, I'ts a personal place to have fun writing and venting.
