View Full Version : Do You Click on Comment URLs?

One of the reasons for commenting on blogs, besides admiring the post or adding to the conversation, is publicizing your own blog. When you read a blog post you like, do you read other people's comments? How many do you read?
Do you ever click on the commenter's link to his/her blog?

If the post has a ton of comments, I only skim through them. But if there are just a few I will read them. I will often click on the links left in other people's comments. I do it a few times a day!

It has to be a pretty interesting post for me to follow on into the comments. Once I'm reading the comments though, I'm usually quite happy to start clicking links on the better comments. :)

If someone takes the time to actually read my blog and leave a thoughtful comment, I figure the least I can do is follow their link and take a look at their stuff.

Of course, if it's spam I just delete it without bothering to click.

I do click them. I have found some excellent sites this way. I make my traffic this way. I believe this is one of the good ways to get some visits and also discover some nice sites worth reading.

Some of the best sites I've found over the years have come from forum replies and I really don't see a difference between that and links in comments on blogs :)

Eh, not really. I always click them when they post on 'my' blog, but I can't say I typically click them when on other people's blogs, although I do skim through them. I'm much more likely to click a link in a forum or a group setting where I have some more to go by. Yes, comments can sometimes be insightful, but I can usually tell more from a forum post, especially if I get used to being around those people. I go through 'soooo' many blogs that it's not even funny, so it's hard to click 'every' link or in 'every' place I go, so I just hope other people click them there, lol.

I don't click those who have placed their url in the comment, instead of letting it remain where the space is provided; with name, email address, and url. I think those who insist on placing their url in the comment space itself are greedy, which I can't stand!

If I love the content and the comments on the topic I would comment and I agree to different comments.

Quite frequently I do click on links to commenters' home pages. I've stumbled across some awesome sites this way. And I'd like to think that others click on my link once in awhile...

I also LOVE the RSS feed feature at the bottom of each users' post here on TBE & Digital Point forums. I click on those very often!

I'm quite surprised. The vote is 13 who do to zip who don't. So... I guess it does help to post an insightful, profound, deeply interesting comment to someone's blog post! :D

I've done it too.... written a Pulitzer Prize worthy post and then forgot to hit the submit button. Those profound words are cyber trash... forever. http://shyflower.com/temp/smileys/emot-words.gif

Snitter is an application that our very own snookca wrote to let you send and receive tweets outside of your web page. It's really pretty neat!
