Does anyone know if there's a certain type of blog that tends to capture more readers than others?

If not a type, then is there a style or set of characteristics associated with blogs that become the most popular?

I am under the impression that blogs promising the secrets to working from home are the most active, because most people get tired of leaving the house to work each day. Of those, the blogs that promise to help you with a system for "creating wealth" seem to have the most exposure through their promises to make those extolling their virtues, and gathering sign ups.

I could be wrong, though!

Niche Blogs - related to Adsense, Make Money Online, How Tos

Personal Blogs - hot / sexy girl with spicy stories or drama in life. For guys, just make it interesting. :)

Popular in terms of loyal readers, or popular in terms of millions of people seeing it (but not necessarily staying or coming back)?

Loyal readers - best bet is to write about something people care about, or a niche of some sort.

Millions of one hit wonders - sex. scandal. political outrage.(Combine all three and add a celebrity for a winning formulation ;))

I think the "make money" niche blogs are the most popular right now, but if you've got a new blog about making money, good luck entering that niche. Everyone has a blog about making money and their quest to work from home or be a millionaire or whatever.

I would have to agree with the working from home blogs. They seem to be quite popular. That and now with the elections coming up political blogs seem to be popular also.

By their nature, the topics that are read by the most people tend to also be the ones blogged about by the most people. If you're trying to find a popular niche, that won't be hard. Breaking into it will be though. :(

Just write about whatever you're passionate about. Any niche can have an authority blog. :)
