Automattic acquires Gravatar!

Hello

If you have not heard Automattic acquired Gravatar (http://blog.gravatar.com/2007/10/18/automattic-gravatar/), this should be an improvement I think. It was getting a little slow loading them at times, so I removed them from my theme, but now I may add them back.

I've never had them in my theme but I have had a gravatar for a couple years now. It seemed like more and more people were switching to using MBL for their avatars.

It's pretty cool though that they are being acquired by Automattic, I was reading about that earlier today.

I've been using them for a while and I'm looking forward to seeing what Automattic do with the service.

I would probably just stick with MBL, it will be interesting to see what Automattic does for Gravatar

This should be interesting. I really hope that they make some improvements.

I've had so much trouble getting Gravatar to work in recent months that I'd all but given up on them. :(

Good. Now it'll go faster. They're saying now that it's switched hands more people might join. I use the myAvatars plugin for WP so it shows MBL and Gravatar avies in comments.

Added my mug-shot to Gravatar the other day when I saw this and added gravatars iinto my comments as well :)

Will need to have a look at MBL as well though as I signed up fot that a while back and not did anything with it yet.

Definitely look into MBL Bob!, it's a great way to find new blogs and attract readers!
