Okay, so given a comment from Sara on my blog (http://quirkyjessi.blogspot.com) about not having heard of this, I figured some of you around here may not know about it either. NaBloPoMo is a blogging event where people sign up to blog every day for 30 days.

It was a huge hit last year and everyone had a lot of fun.I didn't hear about it until it was too late to participate, but met a ton of new people/blogs through a randomizer that was put together (it'll be back this year). So far, there are over a 1000 people signed up, so it's crazy! She has it set up on Ning this time around, so the format is a bit different, with groups that can be joined and forums that can be used....but the whole point is to just blog for 30 days straight, and the rest can be forgotten about completely.

Also, there are some donated prizes that get handed out. You're also welcome to donate your own stuff to be passed out to some lucky winners who succeed.

And if you've blown this post off so far, note how much traffic this can bring to your blog. Not only are your links in various places, but people will be going through the blogs, looking at them, and randomly stumbling across you through the randomizer. There are side challenges going on where people are vowing to make so many comments per day, etc, too, so you can benefit from that. Plus, it's fun!

Check it out here: NaBloPoMo (http://nablopomo.ning.com/)

I saw this on a friends blog last year and so blogged a few times about how much traffic and new friends she was getting and new blogs she was finding. It did look like fun and I had forgotten all about it.

Thanks for the post and link Jessi :D

I found out about it last year when it was over, so I made sure I signed up for this year. It should be interesting to see if I can do it. LOL I crapped out during Blogathon, so this might not be very easy.

Now for the moment of truth, can we all find 30 days worth of content that won't send readers running for the hills :)

I'm not really that good with words and I'm very unimaginative, but what the hey! It'll be fun trying to do this as I struggle just to think stuff up every few days :D

Would this be derived from the idea of NaNoWriMo (http://www.nanowrimo.org/)?

Yes, it is! It's based on the same basic concept and I lot of people are taking the opportunity to do 'both' at the same time. Some people call it the 'lazy people's' version of Nanowrimo....and others put just as much work and effort into it, so your call.

And indeed, it is the first of November. I think it's still open for people to join, so your last chance will be disappearing soon.
