Google is now putting videos in its ads.

The Internet search giant is expected to introduce a service on Tuesday to allow Web sites in its ad network to embed relevant videos from some YouTube content creators. A Web site or blog specializing in hiking, for instance, might choose to embed hiking videos from YouTube.

You can read more about it here:

I'm not surprised. After all there is a cost to hosting those videos and YouTube has gone the same route.

I don't think the original poster meant that the videos would have ads, correct? I think he meant that websites would be able to use videos as ads.

Here is a quote from the NYT article:

The Internet search giant is expected to introduce a service on Tuesday to allow Web sites in its ad network to embed relevant videos from some YouTube content creators. A Web site or blog specializing in hiking, for instance, might choose to embed hiking videos from YouTube.

Google said it would share revenue from the ads with the creators of the videos and with the Web sites that embed them, though it declined to specify what percentage of the revenue will be kept by each party.

I am curious to see what the percentage of revenue would be shared? I think it is a good idea but I would have to say that Google would probably be the biggest winner out of this. Just my thought.
