When you give your blog post a title? Do you put any extra thought into making it catchy? or making it more digable?
I usually just put the first thing that comes to my head and if it's catchy cool, if not, oh well. I should probably spend more time thinking about my titles before I hit the Publish button.

I generally do just what you do, I have given it some thought a few times but this rarely the case.

I usually just call it something that describes the topic, and like Sara says, if it is catchy it is, if not, oh well.
I did do a brief experiment once and I wrote a few posts and purposely gave them over the top and interesting sounding titles to see what effect that would have, and in both cases once they were submitted to something like reddit, it received a TON of attention.
I should probably put a little more time in choosing a title, but I figure as long as it has some decent keywords and the content that follows is good, it is good enough.

I did post titles based on whatever that popped in my head and i still do on certain blogs (i own a few), but on others i have to give thought because a good title can mean the difference between the number 1 or 1,000++ spot in Google :D

It's funny that we all think we SHOULD pay more attention to it.. yet we don't. And Jeremy... your little experiment sounds like a good blog post for The Blog Experiment Blog.. coming soon....

Yeah, thinking up a really good title can take creativity, and being very left-brained that is a difficult task. It is almost painful to try and think outside of the box :D

Honestly I just make sure I spell correctly. Especially with software like Wordpress and its pretty URLs, once you misspell a word in the title, even if you fix it the permalink/slug stays misspelled (because it was already submitted to pingomatic, etc. as that URL).
I do know from first-hand experience that a catchy or inflammatory article title WILL get you extra attention. Just be sure it's attention you want :)

I usually finish my actual post first, and then try to give it a title that summarizes what I'm talking about. :)

I try to stuff them with keywords... just kidding. Sort of.

Depends on the topic of the post ... if it's basic, I won't usually bother coming up with something clever. Otherwise I'll try to think of something unique and memorable that will catch people's eye / attention (but since I'm no word-smith, usually it's not that clever even when I do try). :P

Yes I try my best to select a catchy title before writing my post. I usually set a title and write my post around the title. This will ensure I won't away from the title.

I sometimes do sensational titles, sometimes do keyword titles. I was a bit careless on one of my titles and got busted. If you read the post (http://www.procata.com/blog/archives/2007/02/23/yahoo-yui-wins-javascript-library-wars/), its very ho-hum and not controversial at all. But, I spent about 1.3 seconds writing a stupid title and turned the post into something else entirely. I'm much more careful about composing titles now.
Generally I chuck in whatever comes into my work-addled brain first. To be honest my blog is pretty dull and so I don't really care about keywords or rankings.
However, if you want to generate a few more hits, I recommend a post about games consoles with the name of some consoles in the post title. For some reason that always generates loads of hits for me!

I put thought into my titles...sorry, that's just me, I put thought into everything I do...
I put heaps of thought into my titles. I try to make them as funny as possible. Unfortunately, today's is neither funny or clever. How ironic.

For me, I choose titles that allow my readers to know what I am about to say at a first glance of it. Well of course, you gotta be a little bit mysterious at times to catch their attention. :P

I keep it simple and to the point with a title that pertains to the blog, for the most part.

I usually do put a lot of thought into my blog titles.I've stopped titling posts with Yay.Though yay was completely descriptive of those posts, I felt it wasn't dignified. Note:I only just stopped doing this.
