A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.
”House” for instance, is feminine: ”la casa.” ”Pencil,” however, is masculine: “el lapiz.”
A student asked, “What gender is ‘computer’?’ ‘
Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether ”computer” should be a masculine or a feminine noun.
Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.
The men’s group decided that ”computer” should definitely be of the feminine gender (”la computer”), because: :naughty: {...}

I voted male, because my computer's name is George... However my hard-drive is named Gracie and she actually does most of the work.

Female. But I've not named any of the three that I use... maybe I should.

MY computer can be a "pregnant female dog" at times and yet other times it runs perfectly smooth, so Im gonna go with female.

I'm glad you made this poll, coldie. This is the only blogging forum I belong to and I would have missed it elsewhere. It's fun to share this type of trivia with other members. Makes me feel as if I know them better. :)

Both of my computers are male, named Hermes and Sirius. The previous one was Silvester. Hermes is too old now and will have to be replaced with new one. I'm still to decide if I'm gonna get a male or female one. http://ilovecode.com/smilies/yahoo_think.gif

My iMac was christened Locutis, in honor of its tech-meets-human element, so it was male. My PC is named after another biology-meets-technology sci-fi character, which, also, was a boy. Besides which, my computers are also occasional drinking buddies, and drinking with my female friends sometimes leads to trouble.

My boyfriend said that it's a male because it doesn't multiply. I don't know what he meant by that. lol.
My friend said it's a female because it has USB ports. more lol.

I to would have to go with female. Computers can be so touchy and moody almost like a female. And yes, I am a female and I still think this.

Gonna go with neither. Named my PCs and servers Grey, Hivemind, Silver, Platinum, Titanium... pretty gender-neutral names.
