Hello all. I'm Jamie, 23 from Illinois. I'm currently in my 2nd year of law school (or will be starting soon). I've been blogging since 2002. And that is about all I can think of at this point!

HI Jamie... welcome :)

Nope Dan, you're not the only one. I live in Crystal Lake. I actually use to live in Aurora and went to Waubonsee years ago. I grew up in Newark and Yorkville (if you know where that is). But I'm up north now.

Does being located in northern Indiana count as being a flatlander?

Well where I'm from originally (Michigan) we called anyone in the state that lived south of about the halfway point of the lower pennisula as a flatlander so I wondered if that applied further down into indiana/illinois/ohio as well

What the hell is a flatlander? Am I one?

Flatlander is a derogatory term used by cheeseheads (Wisconsin residents, usually Green Bay Packers (http://www.packers.com) fans) to refer to people living in Illinois.

I lived in Yorkville until 1989, Newark until 1997ish, then worked (i worked at the Jewel on Galena over by Orchard Rd for a few years while in school) & lived in Aurora on the west side in 98 - 2001ish. Went to Waubonsee in 1996 & 1997 off and on.

I lived in Naperville for 3-1/2 years before moving out here to WA and still get back there once a year or so. My mother in law lives in Aurora just past Fox Valley Mall.

The only thing that even came close to existing in that pair of fetid horrid abominations of abortion attempts gone horribly wrong that are the "Wayne's World" movies was the White Castle on the corner of Lake Street (Rt 31) and Indian Trail Road.

And they finally had the decency to tear that down a few years ago. Too bad the building they replaced it with is an eyesore.

Yep, everyone from IL knows that the only thing that was real was that White Castle. heh.. But it did bring some fame to A-Town for a while.

And Dan, I use to live with some friends in Cherry Hill - near that Jewel as well.. And I had a bunch of friends that lived across the street, kinda behind Wal-Mart back in those ghetto apts. haha.

Did you go to school in Aurora?

Oh no, I live right in the crotch of the country where michigan, indiana, and lake michigan all meet. I don't want to be a region rat :(

West Aurora High School - Class of 98. Was even accused of plotting to blow the high school up during my own graduation.  :(
