Anyone got one? Anyone planning on getting one?
I was thinking about it, then I decided that the iPod Touch would be a better option, then I read about what Apple haven't done with the Touch and the iPhone is sounding more and more like the better choice for me. Damn Steve and his clever marketing...

somehow I completely missed this. If someone gave me an iPhone, i would definitely take it, but it's not anything that I have on my list of things I want. I love gadgets like this but i think my want for them is lessened because I don't have the disposable income for them.

I might get the iPod Touch. £30/month for the iPhone contract just isn't worth it for all I'd use it. I'm quite happy on PayAsYouGo, saving every penny I can manage. ;)

No way! The last thing I want is a device that makes me more connected. Sure it is sexy and can do a lot of cool stuff, but there is no way I want all of that crap in one device. I don't even like having my plain old cell phone turned on or a laptop as they already make me too accessible.

I know what you mean Jeremy. Right now I'm glad I can't check my email on my phone. I was out with my folks today and my mom and sister both were replying to email. I felt very free at that moment and it was a nice feeling :)

I'm the opposite, I like to have the option there if I need it without having a laptop with me. Doesn't mean to say I can't switch it off if I need a break but it's there all the same.

Nope, I don't need one. I still have an old cell phone that doesn't even have a camera and any other fancy additions. Maybe in few years :)

I'm glad to see people resisting the urge to get 'more connected'. I was in Tokyo recently and on the subway about 60% of the people were staring into their phones - not much talking, just staring.
I mean seriously, are any of us SO important that we need to get email constantly from everywhere? Or is any website SO critical that we have to check it all the time? This all seems unhealthy to me:)
People always tell me that they can be more productive with their blackberrys and iPhones - but then they always just wind up staring at their phone, sending short thumb-typed responses to e-mails that would have been better answered at a keyboard, and fooling around on the web.
The iPhone is really cool, but I have stared at screens enough! :)

I got one. I was weak. I walked into the Regents street store at the weekend and couldn't say no. It's taken until last night to make it operational (I needed a PAC code from Orange, who would only send it by letter...) but now it is I'm like a kid on Christmas morning...

The price of an iPhone I could get myself 2x EEE PCs. :)
anyway about the iPhone, I had the opportunity to test it out and from what I see, it's nothing grand really besides having a great looking touch-screen LCD.
might as well get HTCs.

Before I shoot off my mouth, I have a question for you who are getting an iPhone. Are you going to change your service to get it?
Where I live, the iPhone is only available through ATT-cingular. We use sprint and are very satisfied with their service.
We had cingular, but it didn't "raise the bar" for us. Instead, it made us do the limbo.

Trouble with the iPhone is the price and the fact that it uses Edge as opposed to 3G. That's fine for the US as Edge is everywhere apparently. However in the UK, 3G is more readily available.
If I was going to get a true mobile office then I'd get the Ameo which is like a diddy computer come telephone that's the size of a filofax and available from free on T-Mobile's contract in the UK.

For me, I'm already in o2 anyway and since the iPhone is exclusively with o2 in UK it doesn't make any difference.

I did change my service to get it. As Vertexity said in the UK it's exclusively on O2. I previously was with Orange (who I'd been with for 7 years on the same contract). I didn't mind moving across to O2 as I'd been thinking about it for some time and it didn't cost me anything to get out of my Orange contract

Why bother? I'd just roll my own iPhone (http://www.wired.com/software/coolapps/news/2007/07/iphoney) if I really wanted something like that.

That's quite an interesting article, came across that yesterday when I was reading some reviews.
One of the things I realized was there is no support for blind people with the phone. Apple tend to target a specific demographic but alienating a lot of people with disabilities can't be a good business move regardless of morals.

I have the iPod Touch now. Not as good as the iPhone, but I'm still in love with it and stuck in the "Ooooh, it moves!! And it's shiny!" phase of things... xD

Nope, don't want one. My Blackberry Pearl does everything I need and then some. Plus I have T-Mobile, so no iPhone for me yet anyway unless I unlock one.
