I recently read about a woman in China who is suing her former employer because she was fired.
Apparently, the company sacked her because she talked back to her boss three times. She was fined for her insubordination but refused to pay the fines so she was fired.
She was told that according to company rules no matter whether management is right or wrong, employees are not allowed to contradict them and must obey. They obviously have some pretty tough rules. {...}

P.S. Wouldn’t she just rather work somewhere else :confused: Or better suggestions :confused:

Sounds like the company is being run like an army. Doesn't seem productive to me, but it's their company. They can run it whatever way they want.
If she'd already been told that that was how things worked, then I have to wonder why she was talking back at all... What did she expect to happen? :( (Though they never had any right to fine her! I don't blame her for not paying that. xD )

If the management screws up, they could pin the blame on anyone and no one could defend.

At my one and only full time employed job in London I was told I had an attitude problem when I tried to give an opinion to my boss that didn't agree with his idea. Simple things to do with the website, the design and function - what I'd been employed to deal with. I was told I had 2 months to sort my attitude out before he'd consider a payrise, so I quit and started by own business instead.
Unfortunately there are still people / bosses who have an ego problem and clearly don't like to be told they're wrong by people who they consider are inferior to them.

My bosses have all been ok, with my last employer, the only problem was that I was on a salary. Being a member of management didn't help. I was expected to work any extra hours thrown at me, cutting staff hours down and doing it myself as it cost the company less...
So now I'm freelance

I am not too surprised because I have actually been fired for being "too productive of a webmaster", Of course as a term of my hiring they had me sign a contract saying I could be fired at anytime for any reason but luckily it also said that if I was let go for reasons not due to my negligence, Id be given two weeks "seperation" pay.
So if you are going to work for someone make sure you have an employee contract and if your job is that bad, quit!, of course china probally doesnt have too many jobs available so unless you have a needed skill your pretty much out of luck.

Wow, that's crazy. I guess I've been very very lucky. At my currently employer my direct supervisor and everyone even above him is great to work with and I never have to worry about things like this.

I have been warned about my attitude.
I only try to be honest and sometimes I think I am a little to blunt for peoples comfort :) But I think that if you have respect for someone, in a workplace or otherwise, you need to be honest. Plus I think the fact that I am very poker faced kinda makes me look depressed all the time. Meh.
