It just happened this morning that I felt tempted to hit the "mark all as read" button of my feed reader when I was confronted with nearly 300 unread items. I resisted doing so although I knew it would take me a lot of time to go thru all of them.

Have you ever just skipped reading your feeds all at once because you were not in the mood to do so?

Definitely Yes. I can get overwhelmed by the amount and I'd rather make them all as read and start over.

Yes, it happened to me few times before that I just marked everything as read and started from the beginning.

I never bother with the read/unread status of the feed items too much.

I have about a hundred feeds which are in placed in different categories. I only always read my "read1st" and "friends" categories. Then there are a few other lower frequency categories which I mostly read completely.

High frequency cats are only there to be skimmed from time to time or to entertain me when I'm bored. Trying to keep them up (or even reset the read status) would be too much work.

Well at least this is what I used to do. Unfortunately my Google reader is broken (http://www.splitbrain.org/blog/2007-09/05-google_reader_broken) for over an week now and Google seems not much interested in fixing :-/.

Nope, not really.

I only read a select few and they tend not to update all that much so it's not a problem keeping up with my feeds. If someone started posting too much and I couldn't keep up or content quality went downhill, I would just unsubscribe rather than just marking all articles as read.

definitely there are times when i just want to ignore them but just cant. usually after checking them few days after or even weeks, piles of feeds are in my mail. but i end up reading them.
