Our very own Michael Martin made a great blog post:
Style Author Comments Differently (http://www.problogdesign.com/how-to/style-author-comments-differently/)
It really is a brilliant idea to make your comments as the author stand out from the crowd. My favorite example is another TBE member's site:
Snitter Alpha - Snook.ca (http://snook.ca/archives/other/snitter_alpha/)
Scroll down and tell me if you can easily see which is snook's comment!

Yes I have my comments styled differently than user comments. :)

Thanks for the link. I'm glad you enjoyed the post!
Snook's site is a great example. It's one of the best designed blogs out there in general. I never get tired of looking at it. :D

There's a plugin for WordPress for this already - WordPress Plugin: Author Highlight (http://www.bloggingpro.com/archives/2005/02/07/wordpress-plugin-author-highlight/)
I used to have it but then I've not added it to my most recent template. I'll get round to it one day ;)

I know I said this on my blog, but I may as well expand here. :)
The plugin would take longer to install, and it's a lot less flexible. It adds a class just. In most cases that would be enough, but not all. Eg. On my own blog, I use the code to add an extra div around the comment, to allow me the inner boarder. :)

Hmmm, never thought about it but that`s actually a really neat idea. I`ll have to check this out myself too :-).

gotta style your own comments! Everybody seems to like it. It's a good way to highlight that the site owner is involved and is addressing the issues getting mentioned. Otherwise, everything tends to just blend and get a little boring.

Michael: thanks for the kind words. :) (*slips him a fiver*)

I have been wanting to use something to style my comments, but I always end up not doing it. But I am gonna do it with my upcoming theme. Or else it'll drive me nuts. xD

That's a very good idea. I will have to do it anytime soon!
And yes, Snook.ca looks great! :)

Yeah I style my comments differently than the visitor comments. I haven't got around to adding any kind of cool avatar yet, but maybe one day. Right now my comments are on a blue background and the rest are on a gray backgound.

Ha - That comment was well worth writing. More money than I'd make in a month of blogging. :naughty:
