The release they put out yesterday is a beta release and is primarily for testers. I would wait for the release candidate next Monday or the actual release.

The standard disclaimer for betas applies. Beta 3 is pre-release software that is still being tested. If you would like try out Beta 3 and help report bugs, join the wp-testers mailing list and download beta 3 here.

I'm happy with 2.2.2, and will be quite happy to stick with it if any of my plugins have trouble with the new version at all. :)

The 2.2.3 release happened on the 7th and I just upgraded to 2.2.2 the day before:( but from the bug fix report it looks like a pretty big security hole was patched.

I generally have the exact same problem. I update hours before the next update is released. I thought about testing the automatic one-click updater. But I never got around to it, it automatically grabs the latest release, updates the files, and runs the database update, all with one click.

I haven't upgraded my 2.2.1. I hope my host will do the upgrading -- because I don't want to do it myself -- before my plugins start to upgrade too!!!!
