I just stumbled it. It's similar to My Blog Log but it has a directory.
My Blog Catalog (http://www.blogcatalog.com/directory)
It describes itself as "Blog Catalog is the premiere social blog directory on the internet. Search, Browse, Rate and Review thousands of blog sites."
Instead of widgets you can choose a button or a "rate my blog" thing.

Blog catalog is pretty amazing, I am fairly active on the discussions there. It is well, all sorts of amazing in fact. Lot's of good people too.

I've noticed people use My Blog Log more.
I am registered at Blog Catalog, but I remember I was having problems configuring it, so I just let it go.

I didn't signup for BlogCatalog because from what I recall, you actually have to install the widget on your blog. I don't want two groups of faces showing up; one is enough for me. Is that not the case?

No, they also have blog buttons. I am using the rate my blog one.
You just need to give them some kind of a link back and they have a large selection of buttons that enable you to do that.

I tried their widget at first because I don't have a problem with lots of faces showing up on my blog. The more the merrier, I say! But... I couldn't get their widget to keep from overlapping my sidebar, although I 'sized' it down to 100 width. I don't know what in their code is messing that up. That's why I went with the button.
I put it in a text widget and it seems to work fine.

I've registered both, but it takes way too much time to keep up on both so I just log into MyBlogLog for now :).

Is there more of a sense of community at My Blog Catalog?

I would say yes, if only because they have a discussion forum.
I'm sure MyBlogLog will add one soon. Just to keep up.

Blog Catalog is nothing more than a clone of mybloglog.
