View Full Version : Age of Blogger

I often find myself not reading blogs of people that I assume I won't have any interest in simply based on their age (them being too young). Usually a high school blog is about high school drama. Although it was important to me at one time, I just don't care to read that kind of crap anymore.

So my question is, does age, if you find it, affect whether you read the blog or your perception of the blogger?

I'm older than dirt. I'm lucky I can read at all anymore. No age doesn't affect me. Older people (if there are any older than me) let me look forward to the glories of retirement and although my youth was quite different than that of today's young people, I enjoy reading about their goings on. It brings back fond memories.

Age is of no importance to me, if the topic is relevant to me than I will read it.

It's not something that even occurs to me unless they mention it.

Age also isn't something that deters me, it is more the way they speak but an 50-year old can speak as much like an idiot as a 15-year old. But, I can say that sometimes I am often surprised when I find out someones age. When you read a blog for a while; I think you begin to form an image in your head of a person and it can catch you off guard when you find out they aren't the image you had. It's not a bad thing...more of a..."Wow, I never would have guessed!" thing.

i don't go by age, i go by content. :) as long as i like the content, it's good reading.

It's weird how we build these images in our heads of people we have never met.

If its entertaining, I will read it. Take Perez Hilton...He talks shit but I love it.

Well, I kind of share similar opinion with jlee. If I see it's just a teenager, I am more likely to skip the blog. In other words, if he/she is a teenager, he/she needs to work harder to catch my attention.

^^ Absolutely. I've been reading this blog and I assumed this person was around my age and I just found out he's 14!! Now, this is a blog I will read regardless of his age because his posts don't make me cringe!

Yeah its always a pleasant surprise when you are reading and it is well written and it turns out to be a 14 or 15 year old. It shows there is a bit of hope for the youth out and about.

It is always sad though when you look at a site and they talk like they are a 12 year old with a l33t issue and then you figure out they are just a 50 year old with no writing skill...

I guess no matter what though, If I like it I will read it, no point in being prejudiced. I was there not long ago myself, and still get a little miffed when someone will not allow me to do something or not pay attention to me because of my age.

Age doesn't matter to me. My host just turned 12 and he is a better writer than me.

But the school topics bore me sometimes. I'd always end up commenting like, "I'm glad I'm done with school."

lol.

Absolutely! xD

Age (And anything else about the writer for that matter, including photos) have no effect on me. I could care less who/what they are, so long as they're writing good advice and seem friendly. :D

I've met too many elder types who are young at heart. Age has no bearing to me :)

Age certainly wouldn't stop me from reading someone's blog, only the content itself.

Nope, the physical age of the blogger has no bearing at all. As others have said, it's about the quality & presentation of the content.

However, I have noticed lately a many of the newer bloggers in my city/region that I keep up with are older folks. That's a refreshing change!
