If you have, how did you do it?Would you ever consider it?

Yep! Some emailed me and asked if they can link me up, and some will message me in Blogcatalog, well I won't really reject them but they have to link me up first if they want me to link back! :)

I haven't and I don't think I would. I'd rather link to blogs that I really like and hope that some people find my blog(s) attractive enough to link to me.

My husband's site did a link exchange with a directory awhile back. "The top 50 reptile sites". It started out with 5. In a month there was only our site and one other. In a month and a day there was only one other.

I also think that link-exhcanges, for the most part, are misunderstood. It does you site no good to end up in someone's link directory (maybe PR - wise, but not visitor wise) and few webmasters are willing to put your link on the page of their site (like the homepage for instance) where it will do you the most good.

Finally, there's just too much deception going on with link exchanges these days since the introduction of the "no follow" thing in the link.

I have asked for a few, mainly back when I first started blogging, all of the people I asked we're blogs I already read, most never responded, some insulted me/my blog/my skills, some said yes and added my link (I did the same) the next day my link was gone off their site. :)

I don't ask for link exchanges, for several reasons. One is that it makes me just god-awful uncomfortable to be asked. Another is that I change my mind a lot. The third is that whole it's-my-blog-and-I'll-do-what-I-want mentality.

I used to years ago. But now, I make them ask me first and sometimes if I don't like the blog, I'd ignore the offer. haha.

I did a lot when I first launched my blog and only got turned down once. Never insulted like Ben though, that's terrible. Even if I thought it was the worst site in the world and someone asked for a link exchange, I would simply say "no." No need for insults.

I just throw my link exchanges in my "random places to check out" section of my footer.

I have in the past. Just sent an email and took it from there.

Wow, that's not very pleasant experience.

I already tried it, and you have to convince them that your blog is a quality blog, also you have to expect the rejections...

**When you ask for link exchange don't be too formal nor to casual...

Yes, but I'll only do link exchanges within my niche, I have a link exchange currently with a pretty big site in my niche, they have sent me pretty good traffic and I've sent them back some as well... in fact they have posted one of my posts as a news article and linked back, and I've returned the favor.

I've asked, I've been asked, I've accepted, I've declined, I've ignored... just all depends...
