I mentioned in my introduction thingy that I run two blogs, and no matter how I play it, one always suffers when I concentrate on the other. Judging by the Alexa rankings alone (let alone internal stats) the ranking of one of the blogs went from being top 100k on Alexa (it got there very quickly and was rising at quite a rate) down to 1million ish when I stopped concentrating on it. It's a similar story with my other blog.

The blog I'm thinking of selling can be found at The Web 2.0 Blog (http://web2.0-blog.com/) and is a blog about everything Web 2.0. Has anyone got any experience of selling a blog? I'm really undecided. it seems like too good a concept (and domain) to let go cheaply, so I want to make sure it goes to a worthy home. Anyone got any experience/opinions?

I've sold a couple of sites before and one of the main things you need in order before selling is stats, stats and stats.

Yup, some sellers just post a sale thread without a proper statement of traffic stats, income stats, PR, Alexa , etc.

It's important that you provide screenshots of your stats (income and traffic) because people won't believe it just because you say so.

One thing ive noticed is that usually the selling price for a site is the amount of money your blog makes per month x 12 ( 1 year), so if your blog makes $20 per month than your Buy It Now price should be $240, but than again that's just a rough estimate, there's so many other things to consider than just monthly income, for example you could valur your domain higher, pretty good PR and backlinks..etc.

Well, unfortunately the stats for the blog aren't great. It doesn't make any money because I've never really looked at monetising it (there are a couple of Adsense units, but they are fairly randomly placed and not optimised at all) and the visitors are down seeing as I don't really post on it very often anymore. The only stat is does have is a PR of 4 which is really quite average.

All the other benefits are fairly intangible, like getting loads of pre-public beta invites, interview requests and stuff like that. I even had an interview request from the BBC to talk about FaceBook! So people obviously think the blog is authoritive, probably because it ranks highly for Web 2.0 blog in google. I'm not sure how I can convey these benefits to potential buyers though. I've also got a bunch of related domains to go with it, but I'm not sure whether they help or hinder the whole thing.
