It is really very accurate but if you were looking to sell ads on your site, it is something people consider. What is yours?
TBE is up to 58,233 which i am kind of excited about even though it doesn't really mean anything. I'll take what I can get!

alexa ranking does mean something. it's importance on the other hand is subjective.
anyway firefox users can use
Alexa Sparky :: Firefox Add-ons (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5362) <=-- Alexa's Sparky extension
SearchStatus | Firefox SEO Toolbar Extension (http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/) <=-- Search Status extension, shows Google PR and Alexa ranking. :)

128,392 for Stuff By Sarah. It's still continuing to rise as I only switched to the domain in mid May so it's getting back to where it used to be. PR just needs to come back now... ;)
And yes, unfortunately as inaccurate as it is, it does mean something. The difference between a few $$$ per link on Text Link Ads and other advertising networks.

nice to hear that!
if you already have a reader base, just a redirecting them helps a lot when it comes to gaining Alexa rank. sure is a lot easier than starting from 0 readers like in my case.
nice site. lotsa stuff to learn from you. :)

A... miserable... 251716 ...
Anyway I just noticed that I got featured in TBE, I usually straightaway fly to the forum and didn't check the homepage until I saw someone coming from that site and I was like soooooo shocked!!!
Thanks a lot!!!

I think a lot of sites with primarily firefox users will continue to rise as before a couple months ago, they didn't have the alexa toolbar so their visits weren't counted. The more people that install the toolbar, the better for all of us!

90,000 something. Alexa sucks, over the past few months my actual traffic has been increasing, but alexa has been decreasing. It is in no way an accurate representation, but unfortunately it has importance for some advertisers.

Traffic Rank for benpartch.com: 1,443,942
Traffic Rank for metalpedia.com: 2,496,065
I notice they have all of my personal info listed, (name, address, phone email) It makes me angry when sites do this kind of stuff on there own, by using the whois info. I mean who doesn't realize that people DO NOT want their address, and phone on the net.

264,602 for mine.
But, from what I understand, Alexa really stinks. I guess the way it works is unless the visitor to your site has the alexa toolbar installed, then the traffic doesn't count toward your alexa ranking. So, I guess it's accurate assuming everyone on the net has the Alexa toolbar, but that's definitely not the case.

I'd never realised before just how massively biased Alexa is towards techy sites. xD

637,640 but its been going up 200,000 each week so we'll see where its at in like a month.
@michael: peopel can get rid of that bias if they install the alexa widget.

(and my forum is currently 55,468)

forums and service related sites (like youtube) tend to have higher ranking.
IMO it's best that blogs are compared to blogs.

Yes the redirect helped, however before the switch I was on 189k, it's now 121k so I'm happy I've improved on top of the switch. Just need my PR back now!

Do you mean an Alexa plugin or the button on the site? As the latter won't contribute to the Alexa rank. Of course the toolbar does.
336,579 as of 9/18/2007. I'll take it it was over a million when I first installed the toolbar. \:D/

Alexa rank has not been updated, right? Cos my rank seems to be stagnant for the past week or so.

Alexa updates every week or perhaps more often I think. If you go to the traffic page you'll see the rank is an average of the past 3 months, and yesterdays rank will be shown if it's under 100,000. Sometimes I've seen it update sooner than a week, other times it's stayed still for the week.
I just checked mine and it's changed in the last 24-48 hours to 112k :D

I think the higher (or lower) your rank, the more often it updates.

Something must be wrong here. I just went to Alexa.com (hoping that's the right service) and put in my blog url for 'Get Traffic Details' and it coughed up:
Traffic Rank for vertexity.com: 1,520,632
And then, using the firefox plugin mentioned above, that gives my blog a rating of 1,714,898. I don't understand what it means but surely it's not correct? Considering I have only just started...

yes i know, but apparently mine has been stuck at the same digit for around 7 days and it's impossible. :)
usually it updates on Monday / Tuesday and sometimes twice a week but it's already Thursday while it was updated mid last week. hrmmm........

here's what i understood so far, I had times when my widget and FFox bar show me one rank while the actual site showed me another number. it took a while before the widget and ffox bar got updated. :)
EDITED : AHHHHH finally it got updated. :) from 346k jumped to Traffic Rank for goldfries.com: 298,798. Widget, Sparky and Search Status still shows 346,080 just like what I mentioned earlier. And no, yesterday even Alexa.com itself showed me 346,080. ;) (yes yes i just woke up. rank changed during my sleep :P)
EDITED 2 : anyway based on my latest observation - Alexa.com and Sparky have updated their rank. Widget and Search Status still shows previous rank. :)

The Alexa Ranking of my site is kinda high!!..

Lookin' For DVD (http://lookinfordvd.blogspot.com) ranking is
9,733,965 :(

Search Status seems slower at updating than Sparky as I run both but prefer sparky as you can see the rank in numbers (just have search status for PR instead).
As for update times. Well yesterday mine had updated and today I see that TBE has updated so I don't think it's any particular fixed day(s).

Mine is currently at 68k. But it'll prolly jump back to 75k sometime soon! Alexa hates me.
