Hi all,

I'm James and I recently started a blog focusing on User Experience and front end interface design issues.

I found the blog experiment via MyBlogLog, and thought I'd join in to (hopefully) share my experiences and learn from everyone else's.

My blog can be found at J McQuarrie .co .uk (http://www.jmcquarrie.co.uk) I hope it'll be interesting for some of you here.

Hello.
Is it true that you call your police a bobby?

and

what are chavs?

Hello doorlight,

We do indeed refer to our police as "bobbies" sometimes. And chavs? Well, I think I'll leave that one to Wikipedia...

Chav - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chavs)

Welcome James :)

And doorlight a Chav stands for Council Housed and Violent

Although these days it's just a label for people who drive around with blue lights all over their car (and underneath), wear a certain type of clothes (suede pink tracksuits and a white baseball cap is a good contender) or are just a certain type of person. Usually trying to look cool, wearing all the 'right' clothes and really not looking good at all ;)

We have a lot where we live. Last night I even saw what seemed to be the lights of an amusement arcade on the back bumper/underside of some guy's car. Changed colours and everything! Shoulda video'd it for you!

Edit: Just read Wikipedia -> In the northwest of England (Chester, Ellesmere Port, Liverpool, etc), chavs are known as 'scallies' (from 'scallywag'). Slightly inaccurate so says the BF who's a local (am a Southerner me!).

Welcome James, I never heard of a User-experience designer, it sounds like a mix between tron and 1984.

I saw this Little Britain and chavs there was the pink one right? Too funny.

Thanks for the input.
