I have just been reading about this 'elite' advertising network. Basically, from I can gather from reading the site, you request to advertise with the network and if you are accepted and as of when a spot is available, your ad is place amongst the current sites in 'The Deck'. I'm not 100% sure that's exactly how it works but I think it is.
There are some highly respected sites listed in the deck but a hefty price tag comes with it. Do you think it's worth it or would you rather save a lot of money and go with something not so 'high profile'?
You can read all about it here (http://coudal.com/deck/).

It can be, if the sites that are using The Deck are getting a lot of traffic in your particular market (obviously Photoshop CS3 isn't going to be of much use to a site about pharmaceutical research, for example, but would be very effective among graphic and Web designers). Of course what I'd like to know is how to become one of those sites that use the Deck's ads.

I am guessing you have to be one of the leading names in Design and Web Development to be accepted over there. Evident from the new recruit - Veerle's Blog

That's what I'm suspecting as well.

From what I can tell you have to be pretty up there to get into the Deck network. But also look at the sites. They only have one ad/banner and maybe a text link ad someplace. The sites are glazing clean and so your ad will pretty much be the only one. It is pretty damn classy. But purdy darn expensive too!

Yeah I think that's one of the main benefits - your ad is the only one being displayed on the page so it stands out. Doesn't hurt that it is being displayed on some of the biggest sites out there either..

That is a hefty price tag! I wonder what sort of ROI a large design firm might receive.

I wouldnt pay for it, but then again I dont run a company that needs to buy "influence" but if I had a design firm or a design software, I could see it being effective.
