One thing I've been thinking of offering to my blog is a subscribe by email option. Does anyone here offer it and how many people do you have subscribed?

I used to offer it on my blog, but somehow managed to lose the code during one of my "let's change how this blog looks" days. Once I realized it was gone, I didn't bother to tack it back on, since I was the only one subscribed, anyway.
Plus, I don't generally subscribe to other blogs via e-mail.

I have it added to one of my themes, (not currently in use) I was the only subscriber to it and personally I would also not subscribe to a feed via email. I hate getting mailing list type emails that come in every 5 minutes.

I wouldn't subscribe to a feed via Email so I also would not have this as an option for my own blog. I can't imagine many people using it.

I use FeedBlitz (http://feedblitz.com/) to handle email subscriptions on my site. I currently have 135 people subscribed so there are definitely people interested in receiving it.

I see more and more people using it and I actually think it would be good to at least offer the option. I know Feedburner offers it so it makes it easier. Apparently through feedburner you can:
Choose FeedBurner, FeedBlitz, Squeet, or Rmail to be your feed-via-email service provider.

I have this on my group blog where I send updates about new posts, etc. Just to keep my registered authors be updated.
But on my personal blog, I did not because I don't want to annoy my visitors through email. IMO.

I've been thinking about using the Feedburner version (Feedblitz) as well. There must be people out there who would be interested in the service, maybe they don't use RSS readers for one reason or another.
I believe that I've seen it on Jeremy's Financial Blog - I'd like to hear what he thinks :)

It depends on the audience.
I have one site that isn't for the technically advanced etc. so about 70% of my subscribers at the minute are email users.
On the other hand, at Pro Blog Design, it's more like a third of a percent...
The nice thing about is that if you're already burning your feed, it takes about a minute to set up. ;)

Yeah! And I realized that there are still a lot of bloggers who don't know about RSS. Sad.

I offer email subscription on one of my blogs, and it has a few subscribers. It is definitely going to be an option on all of my future blogs, even if it doesn't bring in a lot of readers. I use the Feedburner tool, for the record.
