I'm pretty much done with prettifying the design of my bloghttp://mccormicky.com/tiresome
I'd appreciate any thoughts.
My goal is to get readers.
My intention for the design was to blend into the background and bring the content to the foreground. But is it too plain?
Go easy!

I am not fan of the header image. Somehow it doesn't fit the rest of the look.

When you hover links in sidebar, they become too light and not readable. Maybe you should consider stronger colors for hovers.
I would put bigger space between the lines so the text is more readable.
Also, I would put different background on footer. Other than that, it's looks very clean.

Hope I helped :)

the header image is actually about 4 images that rotate, but yes I am beginning to agree with you on this...it worked for my old blog but maybe not this one maybe not that one either because I never asked!
I'll play around with different hover, footer bg color.
Thanks for the advice

Oh sion... i LOVE the rotating images and in fact i wish there were more. Maybe you should write a plugin for this! One thing I like about going to your blog is i get a new header. I say leave it. Maybe add something to change the header which causes a page reload.

But I used to paste the name of the blog on the images. But now I am thinking it lent some more formality to the images(and let folks know where they were-some people think that's important:))
I think he was picking up on the disparity between layout being so understated and a pic of my messy kitchen sink although there is actually no telling what image he was looking at.
So one for and one against.I leave it for now!

The rotating image is a script from PhotoMatt the WordPress dude. He should make it a plugin!

Well you could make the rotating image a background image that way you dont have to paste the name of the blog on it and you can make it appear in a title tag.
