Unrelated Comments

Do you get annoyed if people comment on a post and the comment is more suited for an email/contact form?

I do because my comment policy clearly states that comments should be related. It's just an easier read for me and visitors if comments relate the the particular blog.

Some people will simply skim through the articles to get to the bottom and have their comment put onto the page. They may even just read the current comments, pick up on the conversation and just add to it.

Completely unrelated comments, I would remove them.

It's annoying getting comments like, "Hello. How are you?" and just that and obviously did not read the entry. It's just irritating.

I would delete these off-topic comments.

Generally, if any blog entry of mine receives a comment like mentioned above I will reject it. If it doesn't add to the discussion, it's wasting page space :).

I reject them as well! I was just wondering if I was being stupid for being so annoyed by them.

I guess if it is not related at all than I would reject it also. Sometimes it is hard though when you are friends with another blogger and things get off topic sometimes!

Seriously, as long as it's not spam, I don't really mind off-topic comments. But I sort of treat my comments like forum threads, and sometimes, those off-topics lead to interesting places.

It really depends. I'm more lenient on my personal blog than other blogs. But if its just spam it will definitely be canned!

Kinduva Catch-22 thing here - my blog is sorta comment-starved, so I'm grateful for any feedback I get. But at the same time, I do remove comments that are either intended more as private or are completely unrelated. I don't take deleting comments lightly tho and only rarely do so.

I delete nonsense. If I take my time to post something MEANINGFUL on a site, I expect the same attention. Moderation comments option really comes in handy :D
