Just wondered why most people here are bloggers.
To make money, or for pleasure, or as a way to drive visitors to a 'main' website.
For me it's a mix of the last two mostly, but I'd be interested to know why other people keep blogging.

I started blogging out of curiosity and then continued out of pleasure. I know hope to make a few bucks per month off of that blog. Another blog I keep is strictly to let family and friends stay informed while I'm traveling. I blog here at TBE for a couple of reasons: 1) To help drive traffic to the community and 2) to talk more in depth about blogging that doesn't seem suitable for the forums.

I first set up a blog so that friends around the country and abroad could keep up with what I was doing. A couple of years ago I moved to WordPress (from b2) and got a kick out of writing a post and realising that a few people were reading it!
Now it's a mix. Some is to share my minor knowledge with others, I get a kick out of helping people out so hopefully an occassional post does this, it also helps me to get what's in my head out some times, hence why I maybe blog before I go to bed. A couple of sites I do it for the passion of the subject but also hope to earn a little cash on the side for my efforts.
None of my blogs mention any major money making sites or my business so there's no traffic being driven anywhere.

I want people to know who I am. :) As simple as that, usually I like to humor people with my blog posts.

I started blogging to avoid sending "mass emails" to family and friends to let them know what my family was up to. I never wanted to bother people, but at the same time it was a good way to send out new photos of the kids, etc.
Now, I blog for pleasure and I love it. I consider blogging to be my hobby.
I have also loved writing, so that helps.
I did PayPerPost for a while to try to make a little money, but grew disenchanted with it. I had been using only free blogging services, but recently got my own domain for a new blog in addition to my free family blog. I'm still experimenting with that.
Overall, I enjoy blogging and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I think my reasons for blogging will continue to evolve.
