Has anyone here ever written an ebook to attract visitors to your blog? This is an idea that I've been throwing around for a couple of months now.

Realistically, I'd like to sit down and write a 10-20 page ebook that gives a crash course on a particular internet business related topic, a How-To guide if you will. This ebook would be made widely available for free at the top of my blog as a marketing tactic.

I suppose there's really nothing to lose but time by writing it? Time which I would undoubtedly spend 'tweaking' my projects as it is. We have an English professor all lined up who's willing to fix any holes in the content as well as my grammar.

I'd like to hear from you guys here at TBE, is it a decent enough idea? Do you think that it would be worthwhile assuming the content is excellent?

I think this would work well, if you only offer it at your site and not direct download links to it from elsewhere that way the people come and get to read other stuff at YOUR site. personally when i see a direct download being offered, i very rarely go to the site of the original author.

It is a good idea Paul. I know someone on here who is doing just that and maybe he will speak up (don't want to give any secrets away here).

I know what Chris Garrett does is allow people to download the ebook for free if they are a subscriber to his feed. So it's a good way for him to get his subscriber list up!

That's a great idea. Was that covered on a recent Podcast of yours by chance? Hearing about combining free resources with rss subscription feeds sounds very familiar.

Hey Paul, you should do it. I'm currently writing one myself -- at least half way done now. I have found it to be a lot of work, but writing is like sex, sometimes you just gotta get it out... What did I just say -- you won't find that type of writing in my book.

, but writing is like sex, sometimes you just gotta get it out...

I really have no idea what that means and would LOVE to hear an explanation.

perhaps I said too much... or perhaps it's a guy thing...

I too would quite interested in this.

Never considered it for myself as I'm not much of a writer.
