There is a place for posts that will always be relevant as well as those that are based on current info and months later won't be relevant. Are yours more timeless?
On my personal blogs...no way are they timeless and have a short shelf-life. I should probably try to write more posts that age gracefully.

I try to do a mix. I have a lot of timeless articles that are more or less general advice pieces, yet I try to mix it up by occasionally addressing current events or things in the news as well.

I've never actually thought about writing that way. It has definitely given me a lot to think about. Thanks :)

Some blogs just don't lend themselves to timeless content. for example, I don't want to go to a Mac blog for timeless posts, I want to go there for updated news (i.e. Version 2.4 of SuperWidget is out now!).

I think a good mix would is nice for a blog that way you always have content that people can come back to

This is a good question, perhaps worthy of a post :)
That's actually one of the things I try and ensure at ST, that post are timeless (or that most are). IMO, that will help a blog have staying power.
There's nothing I like better than going through the blog archive month by month and thinking, "damn that was a good month".
I think one of the best ways to measure how your blog is doing is to look at it at the end of the year and count up how many post are timeless, relevant, great post. Of course not all post will be, but you should have a handful a month that really stand out. IMO
Some of my articles would be relevant in a long time from now. The others, "journal like" about my work as a web design are less "timeless". I try to combine both

Good question. My blog is still quite new, so it's not really something I have thought about yet.
I guess some of my content is timeless (Posts that talk about design principlies/concepts etc.), but there are also many that aren't (Ones that involve coding may not actually work in the future. :( ).
This thread did make me realise that the posts I chose as my best are all pretty timeless though. It wasn't a conscious choice, but perhaps it did have an effect on my judgement. :)
