I published a post (http://blog.sitebrand.com/2007/08/21/profit-from-mismatched-visitors-with-personalization/) at work today (on the company blog), which is a new thing for me since pretty much all of my web publishing to date has been on sites I own myself. Sure, I've written content for client and employer sites before -- but this is the first time it's been my own credited writing.

It got me thinking about guest blogging. Do any of you contribute to blogs that aren't your own? Or invite others to add to your own blog?

I have never done a guest blog - though I know it can do wonders for traffic and back links. I did recently submit a guest post to Shoemoney since he's out at the SES all week in San Jose, but who knows if it will ever see the light of day.

I am actually writing a blog post about the topic right now. I contribute to Search-This (http://www.search-this.com) pretty regularly, but I wouldn't say I'm a guest blogger because I'm too regular for that. I'm part of the team :)

Otherwise no I haven't contributed to other blogs yet...but am working on a guest post for a photography blog.

I suppose I'm not really a 'guest' poster at Sitebrand either, since I work there. But the blog is mainly run by someone else, so it feels like a guest post I guess.

I could definitely see the traffic benefit, especially if you were doing an article for, say, Sitepoint.

I agree. The SEO benefit of such a guest article (anchor text) would be excellent as well.

yeah things like that can definitely help. I had an article on Sp about 1.5 years ago and it drove a lot of traffic to my site as well.
