So far we have a good range of people with different blogging experiences and some who LOVE it, some who HATE it, and some who don't care one way or another.

I started blogging a couple years back just to try it out and see if it was something I would enjoy. Turns out I did. I continue to blog for the same reason. I blog a few places and the motivation for each is different. My family blog (http://www.wanderingfamily.com) is just a place to share what the kids are up to and what we are doing while away from our family and friends in other countries. It's not a blog I LOVE maintaining, but it is something I feel I need to do.

My personal blog, I just love to post there :)

When i blog for Search-this....I do really enjoy this, although the topics of my posts are more technical or web-related than that of my personal blog.

So why do YOU blog?

I love blogging because it is a way to broadcast my veiw other then using my mouth. I am opinionated and insane and this is just another outlet for me.

I want everyone to know what I think, if they want to read it. I want people to read my stuff and then actually think. I want to entertain and inspire..... I am such an attention seeker rofl.

I do it because it allows me to continually add free content to my site and get others to (hopefully) visit ona regular basis. It's pure business and marketing.

My love for blogging is really twofold:

1. The Creative Release
From the time I was little I loved to develop. Just about the only toy I played with as a child was LEGOs. I was a master with LEGOs and loved to see something come from nothing. So I kind of see my blog as really the replacement for LEGOs. Oh, and if you ever visit my office you would still see LEGOs lying around :)

2. Community
Growing up I always played team sports and so I was taught the value of being part of a team. That likely laid the foundation of my belief today in community. Later in my college years I read books about ecology and studied sociology and that greatly reinforced my beliefs in the benefits of belonging to something bigger than myself.

So when I started Search-This.com (http://www.search-this.com/) it was with one purpose in mind. I wanted to form relationships with others that shared my same passion for the web. Because at that point I was an island unto myself and that wasn’t good – for anyone. So the blog allows me to learn from other great minds and hopefully also give back to them – to form a win win situation.

I’ll leave it at that for now because I've already started a post on Search-This that will give FAR more details, perhaps too much detail

I do it because the world needs to know about all natural male enhancement :D

Seriously though, I don't have any motivation to blog right now and I haven't in a while. I tend to get bored after the first 6 months or so, so my next blog will be on a topic that can keep me interested the longest :)

I do it because my life is so exciting that I feel it is my duty to share it with the world.

OK, I guess it's really partly because I enjoy writing and partly it gives me a place to vent.

My main motivation is helping others by providing information that can help them make informed financial decisions.

A secondary driver is the potential to make a modest side income. What started as a simple hobby has evolved into a reasonable source of income which helps keep me motivated even when I get sick of writing and want to quit.

One of my websites is geared to helping people who find orphaned kittens, or whose queen has died and they suddenly find they need to bottle feed 6-8 mouths several times a day. A few years ago, someone who I had been helping with her questions about her kitten, contacted me. The kitten was now a grown cat (he was a feral kitty) and she had so many questions about his behavior it was maddening. I got to thinking about just blogging about my experiences with my clowder (currently I have 21 cats) and so my blog was born. It is a stand-alone blog, not part of a blogging network as I own the domain name. I try to blog on a daily basis, but find with my work on my desk and the demands of kitten season, daily is a fairy tale for me. It is getting good traffic and pretty good feedback.

Just in case you have a vision of me crammed inside a one bedroom apartment with so many cats, we live on 4 acres and have an outside cat enclosure that attaches to our home. The cats climb through the enclosure through irrigation pipes that attach to our dining room window. In our home, cats DO get on the dining room table. :) You can see the tunnels in the photo below

WOW. Now that is really cool. I am a huge cat lover so I commend you! I have 1 cat and would love to have more but my husband wouldn't be too happy about it. My cat turned 20 in April (I've had her since 6th grade and I'm 30!) and still runs around chasing my dog and acting like a kitten. She has quite a personality and I love her completely.
