View Full Version : Who is a better blogger: Men vs. Women

I was reading a post this morning about women being better bloggers (http://robsellen.com/2007/08/do-women-make-better-bloggers.html). The author makes some good points in that women tend to be able to connect with people better because they write with more meaning.
That being said though, I think what it comes down to is people who write with meaning and passion will typically do better than those that don't. I asked myself if I read more blogs from men or women and tbh, i think it's about even.
What are your thoughts??

Who's a better poet? Emily Dickinson or Edgar Allen Poe?
It goes to the style of writing and the author's skill in presenting his/her topic. I don't think gender has anything to do with it.

I don't gender has anything at all to do with it.
I think it comes down to each and every person, no one is the same - everyone communicates in their own way and has their own writing style. Factors making a good or bad writer do not contain gender IMO.

I think different genders would be inclined to write in different ways - as a generality. But I don't think one would be inherently better.
The topic might be a factor, though. Perhaps one gender might be better at blogging about sports, while the other might be better at blogging about romantic comedies. ;) But these are generalities.

That's a very good point. The better blogger will most likely be chosen in that case, depending on their own audience. For example (and I am being very very general here ;) ) A blog about romantic comedies may have readers saying women are better bloggers as they relate to the content more where a blog about sports will have readers saying men are better.
So basically it comes down to each blog individually and eachothers audiences.
*hoping I was careful enough with my wording there :)

I don't think one is any better than the other. :)

Depends not only on the writer, but the blog's niche...
I would agree that women do have an advantage in being more open and able to connect with their readers. But, this is not always called for.
Some blogs are more technical and the reader is not concerned with making a connection and the personal side, they simply want answers to their problem. For example, if you are trying to learn about the CSS z-index property and how to use it, you don't care about the author at all, you simply want to learn about the CSS property.
So it all depends...
I can tell you that from experience it's a real bonus to have both males and females on your blogging team.

ha ha. I thought I'd get a bigger rise out of the women than I did. :) Just having some fun of course.
Bloody hell. What a weird topic! I wouldn't have thought gender was relevant.

Yeah, when I saw that post it made me realize that I had never given the topic much thought so I was curious to know if I was alone in that.

No comment. But I think a lot of women blogs more than men.

then why do guys have higher insurance rates
As for the question, depends on the subject matter. For anything but a humor site it's equal to me.
Yeah, we beat you guys hands down in the humour stakes.

The guys that I know, who claim to be "good drivers", try to prove it by showing me how well they can handle the car at high speeds.
