I'm talking location here. Do you find you're able to concentrate better if you're looking out a window? Sitting on the couch watching TV?

For me, it helps to be somewhere quiet which is very different from how I work. I typically work with music but blogging isn't something that comes naturally to me so I have to concentrate hard! I also prefer to sit on my porch. It's just relaxing and the words seem to flow better.

I usually get my inspiration from just walking around and living. A lot of my inspiration comes from the things that I do during the day, and people that I interacted with.

Due to the fact that I use a PC rather than a laptop, location changes aren't an option.

But unlike you Sara, I can't work with music playing but blogging just seems to pour out so I don't have a problem listening to music.

I started using a PDA due to not having access online and 'live blogging' years ago. Ended up carrying a digital recorder for times it's not possible to 'write' with my PDA.

I tend to jot notes a lot, and when I get a chance they're there to go through and keep, trash, or blog and hurl.

There's a park in the town where I live. It's just a loop of road, a bunch of trees, and more squirrels than you can shake a stick at. I don't get to go there, much, anymore (and all of the writing I've done there has been of the pen-and-paper variety), but it's good place, for me. Something about it clears my head, and then ideas flow more naturally.

Most of my inspiration comes from sprawling out on the couch with my laptop in hand, with the TV on but only as background noise. If I'm having trouble thinking up a topic, I'll open up a book or start surfing the blogosphere.

I then type up the rough draft and check it in my quiet, home office upstairs to fix up any grammatical errors that I can find.

I come up with my best ideas, when I'm sitting in my backyard. I have hummingbirds, squirrels, 2 cats, and one frog who lives in my hose reel, but is always there if I check.

If I sit in the yard when the weather is nice, and just relax or have a beer, the ideas seem to come.

I also get ideas when I'm in the shower. I think it has something to do with not thinking to hard.

Of course, later on, I have to expand on the idea, and do some research. But, I think relaxing is the key to creativity. Just my 2 cents. And yes, maybe I shared more than I should of. ;)

You're a blogger; I wouldn't expect anything less!

I also get ideas when I'm in the shower. When Colin Powell was pushing 'AOL Anywhere', I always wondered if they'd make a waterproof unit for the shower wall. Never did. I've yet to find a PDA cover either.

Tried putting a Ziploc on my digital recorder once, but the mic couldn't pick up my voice. GE tech support refused to help, telling me my water was too hard.
