View Full Version : Favorite movie this summer?

So, which movies have you seen this summer? And which have you liked the best.
I enjoyed Michael Moore's "Sicko." Having had to deal with HMO's myself in my role as a social worker, I can assure you that if anything Moore made them look better than they are. (I actually had a representative at one HMO ask me in all seriousness if "cardiac arrest" was a life threatening condition.)
I also thought the new Harry Potter movie was fun, probably because that wasn't my favorite book in the series so I didn't care that they changed things around a little.

"Sicko" was great! Well, sad and maddening, but well done. Sure, he may slant things a bit in favor of the argument he's making, but we need more Michael Moores around to question the status quo and shake things up.
"Bourne Ultimatum" was also great! Very tense and well-made.
I'm just sick that I haven't had a chance to see "Ratatouie" yet. I'm a tremendous Pixar fan!

Only new movie I've seen this year was "300" - and only because I bought the special edition widescreen 2 DVD set at Walmart.
"Spartans! Tonight, we dine in Hell!"

I have been entirely too broke to see any movie yet, but wanted to see Ratatouie as well! Also there is one that is not animated that has to do with cooking that I want to see, can't remember the name though.

The only 2 movies I've seen in the theater this year were Transformers and the new Harry Potter movie ... of those two I'd definitely say Transformers was my favorite.
I did see 300 just the other day on DVD though, very good movie! I'll have to watch it again now that I finally have my stereo system installed with my big-screen TV in the new house. That will make it even better! ;)
Ocean's 13 because I love the damn series. What else have I seen? Nothing that I can think of. How sad! Bourne Ultimatum and 300 are on my to-watch list. As well as Chuck & Larry!

I saw 300 a few months ago and loved it. I was shocked that some parents had their 5 and 6 year olds in the theater! This is definitely not a kid-friendly movie.
I saw half of ratatouille and really enjoyed it. I had to leave early because my three year old was being a brat . So, we will try again at some point.

Love it and also have the special edition. There is nothing I don't like about that movie :)
Other faves where Charlotte's Web, Blades of Glory, Fantastic Four.

There's one thing I didn't like about it. It wasn't entirely historically accurate.
But I guess that's what Frank Miller gets for believing that bunch of pathological liars (I mean master politicians) known as the Athenians (bear in mind I'm referring to the ancient Greeks, not the modern nation of Greece).

Argh. I thought I was the only one! I suppose I need to revise that statement as Entertainment value wise they rock.
I studied Archaeology for a year at University - It's good to see some one is familiar with the Thermopylaen Legend.

My husband went and seen the Transformers and he actually didn't care for it all that much. But I am really not to sure why that was.
