What is everyone's position on these two networks (or others like them). I've seen some people that love them and others that hate them.

I don't really think they are that bad as long as your blog isn't overtaken by paid posts. Seems like an easy way to make a quick few dollars (or $400 or so per post if you're John Chow, lol)

I'd never do them. I agree that they can be done as long as the content reflects what the site is about and is objective without being overdone, but to be honest I'm not interested in alienating some readers who have strong opinions against the programs for a few bucks.

I don't do this. I can get money in other ways. I consider my blog to be THE ONLY place I can really speak my mind. And when I do this I want the thoughts to be mine completely.

Good point from both of you. I had thought about signing up, but after reading your thoughts I don't believe I will. I had thought of these things before, I guess I just needed confirmation. I don't want to alienate readers that don't like these posts plus I like my blog being "my blog." :)

I signed up for review me on my old blog because I wanted to see if you actually got paid. I participated in one blog and did get paid $15.00 for it. Haven't done it since, though.

I am considering actually trying this so that way I can review it and post my findings here. I guess i would be reviewing the service to see what it's like.

I got really tired of PayPerPost. I made about $200 there, but they can't seem to get their act together. They keep rolling out changes and updates. It seems to have gotten too segmented now, so that you can't get good paying opps if you are a "newer" blog. You could try them though, you can make a few bucks that way.

I was a "Fan" of PPP, come on when I saw cash keep flowing into my paypal i feel so glad! But! I stopped when I finally had my domain, because my friends were like, "Dude! Your blog is too commercialized!". So I stayed away from them. And now I earn money via advertisements.

well the paid posts are PPP, you can still speak your mind , just on a topic that is being paid for. theyre not asking you to say "this is great, buy this. heres a link to it so you can buy it now." theyre only ask you to link to it in a post about it.

and 4clubbs is right i didnt like payperpost because their service was slow and its just...too messy and the quality of the listings werent as good.

but remember that in these networks its YOU who chooses which ones you wnt to write about. so it's not like theyre making you write about lindsay lohan movies when your blog is about good movies. ;)

and the truth is - it depends on your readers whether or not it will ailenate them. most of the people who get online dont care if its paid for or not as long as they found what they want and like it. remember that not everyone understands or cares how to run websites, blogs, internet marketing, etc. if youre targeting bloggers, they probably wont like your paid posts cause they know how the whole thing works with paid blogs. if youre targeting regular everyday people who get online and like your blog topic - they probably wont care.

i say why not just sign up and see if it works for you. like i said you get to accept or reject offers so it wont hurt to sign up and see the quality and quantity and prices of posts being offered and paid for there.

I have been looking into blogging and in the course of doing this to be honest I have not heard alot of great things at all about the Paid Per Post. It seemed to start out good from what I have read and then went downhill.

I was just breezing through this thread, and am curious to know if your friends don't consider "advertisements" (which I'm assuming are traditional ad units on your blog) commercialized. I'm just personally trying to understand peoples' perspective on this.

Let me know when you have a chance! :)

I think people see ads and PPP differently but you can definitely over-do the ads and make them more commercialized.

I haven't done PPP in along time. The newer bloggers get squat and google gave me a pr of ZERO so I can't do anything there. Plus they're kinda getting to elite and it bugs me.

I just got my 90 days in and got accepted in Pay Per Post. I had a few available opps. But nothing I was excited about.

I plan on trying them out in the future though. I'm also going to check out sponsoredreview.com and bloggerwave.com .

I'll only do posts that work into the theme of my site. I think these may be good opportunities. But it's too soon to tell.

I seen a PPP ad on a blog earlier where you would request that blogger to write about a particular subject. That is fine as the blogger would still have their own opinion.

Then I notice options down the right hand side to select the tone of the article, actually allowing you to say the blogger must write in a negative manner about the given subject. Surely this is a waste of time? You're not getting someone's opinion here, you're just getting what you want to hear. You may as well write it yourself...

not a lot of advertisers use those options though, and if they don't pick it then you can just say whatever you want. however, you see those options before you accept or decline a listing, so its not like you wouldnt know ahead of time what you're getting into.

That's a bit of a relief :)

Not that I use the service, I would just like to think what I was reading on other blogs were actually the opinions of their authors. Is there anything that shows up in an article to let a reader know that the post has been paid for?

I agree with you. There's something to be said for just having a blog that's yours and nothing but yours - without the ties.

Just tonight there was woman on the news who has a bunch of kids. She started blogging. (I don't know if she had ads or any of that.) Her blog about her big family caught on, and now she's been approached by Hollywood about a tv sitcom.

Its not that all blogs will get this type of results, but apparently some can.

I did 12 PPP posts and earned about 140.00$. The posts are easy and that's more than I've made from AdSense. The problem is apparently Google considers PPP posts paid links. Which technically they are because they do require a link in the post. More experienced bloggers probably knew about this, but I didn't get the full impact of it. Until my page rank 4 was reduced to a 2. I'm not doing any more PPP posts and I'm adding no follow tags to the ones that I have done. I'm hoping Google will take a look at my request for reconsideration so that I can get my page rank back. I am not thrilled with the drop. But I guess this is part of learning about blogging and ranking and making money. We'll call it a minor set back and some hard earned knowledge. If anyone is interested in PPP and cares about page rank then they should probably wait until all posts have no follow tags and are disclosed, apparently this is what Google is looking for. Take it from someone who has learned the hard way.

I operate under the impression that if it works for your current content (readers would expect something like this anyway) and you're allowed to be honest then there is no problem with it.

No problem if you don't mind page rank penalties.

No problem if you don't mind page rank penalties.

I have yet to see a penalty on me from a ppp post, all ppp posts I make are related to the content in my niche blogs.

Hey bloggercamp. I'm glad you weren't penalized. But that doesn't make my warning any less valid. It has happend to a lot of people and when it hits you it becomes very real. :)

The good news is I removed everything that I thought Google was frowning on and they must of actually looked at my reinclusion request because I got my rank back. In about a month I went from PR 0 to 4 to 2 back to 0 back to 4.
