Actually, I think the relatively new "authority" number on technorati is the number of separate sites that link to you, not the reaction number. When looking through mine I notice that there are multiple times the same site links in the reaction list.

Obviously the numbers are a little skewed as the yahoo site explorer and google are showing all sites that link to me in their blogroll, comments, articles etc. It's not like 2000 sites have wrote articles about my site (although that would be nice). :)

I don't keep track of how many sites link to me, I just care about how many visitors I get from search engines.

I've always found that a well-placed/well-described link from a good site gets me higher quality traffic than search referrals.

Well, doing it that way gets me "about 17." When I calculated the first number above, I checked through Google WebMaster tools and then the "links" section. It shows 1813 for me in Google.

I don't know how many sites link to me. Unless someone leaves a comment, for all I know I could be out there yapping to myself in cyberspace. Which sometimes wouldn't be an entirely bad thing, come to think of it.

Wonder why the big difference? You can see there is a huge difference with my site as well. I mean, especially the same company, you'd think Google would recognize the same number no matter what way you check.
