How often do you update your blog with fresh content?
As for me, I only update it when I feel the inspiration. I can go days without updating it.
What about you guys?

I had to put other because I generally update once every weekday, not quite every day. Every so often though, life gets too hectic and that just isn't possible.

I put other too. On one blog it's whenever i think of something. On another blog its every couple of weeks, on another its every couple of days. I'm all over the place!

I shoot for 2-3 times a week. Sometimes it's almost daily but occasionally I run a dry spell and one post a week is tough.

I'll do it everyday because I just have loads of nasty ideas to share. :P
I update whenever I feel like it. I try to do it once a week but that is not always possible.

Actually why not? You're busy?
Actually why not? You're busy?
If you're talking to me, it can be that I'm busy or that I just feel I don't have anything to write about.

Usually I will update when I have something new to write about or if I'm bored. I can't schedule myself, it just doesn't work.
At one point I actually decided I was going to have a weekly photo submitted in my blog. This would be two-fold ... it forced me to blog at least once a week and also forced me to photograph at least once a week. It didn't have to be anything fancy, could even be some random / funny / weird photo ... but I couldn't keep up with it, so I dumped that idea.
So once again, I'm back to "whenever".

I haven't updated my personal blog in over a month... but it's pretty well dead at this point. I'm thinking of turning it into a tumble blog or a link blog or something that more free form, easier to keep up with, and has less overlap with my day job (which is as a blogger).
The blog I write for, we update about 6-10 times per day during the week.

Ahhh I voted wrong! I selected "more than once every day," lol. I read it to quick and for whatever reason thought it said more than once a week :)
I try to update mine at least twice a week but a goal is really three times (I've missed that goal here recently)

Whenever I feel like it. Sometimes the best things to blog about require me to have my digital camera, but alas it's always at those times that I don't have it with me.

It really just depends on which blog I'm updating. A couple of my blogs require me to update at once a day or once every other day. One of them, I update about once a week, and the other one I update only when I get content submitted from readers. It works out well for me.

I know the feeling!
I would like to do it daily, but I cannot. I think 1 time a week would be a good schedule to start with and maybe put some more when I feel like

I have various blogs. Some are daily. Some are weekly and one is actually random due to the content it deals with.

Whenever really, when i feel like writing, or when I have something I want to get off my chest. It's definatley not a day-by-day thing at present.

I'm shooting for one new blog post every three days. Now that I've upped the content quality, It's taking me longer to put something together that I can be proud to publish. :o

We've been aiming for at least a couple of new posts per week, but this past week has been tough between work on-call and I'm kind of in a dry spell...

i try to post atleast 2 a day.
i observed that if there is constant post made, my readership will rise and more subscription to feed.
Every week day. Weekends aren't supposed to be for sitting in front of the computer.

I try to update my blog twice a week. I think more often leads to some pretty thin entries, which might turn readers off.

I shoot for a new post every 2 to 3 days, but then sometimes I hit dry spells - like earlier this week - and other times the new posts just pour out - like this weekend. So, I occasionally hold back or bank up post drafts to try to spread things out a bit more evenly...

During a good month, I update about every day or every other day. During a not-so-good month, it's more like once or twice a week if I'm lucky.

i try to do 1 post a day but every once in a while i don't feel like posting and I miss a day...but then I can always write a post and change the published date to the day i missed =)

I shoot for a couple of times per week, but don't have any kind of hard & fast schedule. Sometimes, it's all I can do to get a single post out in a given week and then other times, I've got the creative juices flowing and can publish several.

I voted for "whenever i feel like". but aren't u supposed to update everyday or every 2 days if you want your traffic to be high? I mean, if people come and see you have no new stuff, they might leave and never come back.
Dan Schulz
05-19-2008, 05:59 AM
Not really, iphetamine. As long as people know you're on a specific schedule, you stick to it, and you have great quality relevant content that people want to read (and link to), you'll be fine.
Three times a week pretty reliably.
Sometimes I add in an extra one - a review of another blog or signalling a post I really like.
If I'm sick I don't have any saved up so I just do a post apologising and saying I'll be back when I recover.

I'm just getting started but I think "when I feel like it" is quite good lol but as a reader i think once a week is often a good schedule for quality information. I guess there will be exceptions and I think the most important thing is to keep the quality of our posts high. If we churn out drivel then people won't be interested and probably will unsubscribe from feeds etc, but people probably won't notice a dry spell and will appreciate the quality information when it comes...
Sometimes I think it might be a good idea to post a teaser for a post that's coming if you are on a two week schedule etc eg:
Hey guys been really busy working on my new post about "how often you should post"
I've been discussing the topic with lots of top bloggers and you'll find the information really useful. Article coming soon....
Don't know , just an idea and I don't know if it fits with conventional blogging styles, then again, who wants to be conventional ;-)
thanks guys,
Keep choosing :)

One thing to be mindful of is that, should you have a particular post that suddenly becomes very popular - like being Dugg or Stumbled, for example - you'll be more likely to make the most of the opportunity of the sudden (and brief) influx of new visitors by upping your posting frequency.
You can capitalize on the burst of traffic by giving those folks plenty of fresh material to chew on, thereby hopefully convincing them to subscribe and become regular readers. And I'd recommend that the posts you push out during a period of higher-than-normal traffic be really high-caliber stuff that's truly representative of you & your blog.
I kinda learned this the hard way when I had a guest post ( Geoblogging - How To Geotag Your Blog (http://www.problogger.net/archives/2008/04/15/geoblogging-how-to-geotag-your-blog/) ) go live on Problogger.net. I found myself wishing that I'd have had a reserve of new content to publish during the surge that resulted from that exposure. I did scramble around and manage to push out a couple of posts but I think I could've made more of the opportunity with a bit better planning on my part.

Definitely daily. This is my sanity here!
I have to blurt everything out to 200 strangers a day or I will go stark raving mad!
i observed that if there is constant post made, my readership will rise and more subscription to feed.
You're right. I usually post daily, but in the couple of weeks that I was sick and only posted 2 or 3 times I noticed a real difference in numbers.
I will begin posting twice a day as soon as my blog makeover is completed. Probably in another week or so.
I can't wait for it to be done!!!

Perhaps the question I get asked the most about blogging is how frequently should we update our blog?
In my opinion, Blogs should be updated quite frequently like twice or thrice a week.

I blog four times a week, twice for each blog. Sometimes I do a little more, but since my blogs are info heavy it is hard to do more posts then that.

I post either 2 to 3 times a week for my blog. Unless something happens that I have to post before I forget then I will post more.
