I've seen forums where reputation works and where it doesn't. I wanted to try it out here and see how it goes. For those that don't know, reputation is a way to gauge someone's usefulness in the community! When someone makes a great post, you give them rep by clicking the http://www.theblogexperiment.com/blog-forum/images/buttons/reputation.gif under someone's username.

The system really does have it's place as it's nice to know people found value in the advice you offered and also helps to discourage really bad posts.

Hopefully this goes well and doesn't get abused...it's just another experiment! Let's make it work!

Do you see under my username for example? You see the following image http://www.theblogexperiment.com/blog-forum/images/buttons/reputation.gif

click on that!

Well, I hope it will work here as I've seen places where it didn't and got abused.
But I'm happy to try it out :)

Do it but make it so extremely one-sided (either really easy or insanely hard to rack up lots of rep) so it's useless. If it's just a fun thing to have around then it's fine, but we don't need any pissing contests :)

I don't want a pissing contest, I have a weak stream :(

I am all for the rep system but I feel that bad rep is really un-needed the report post thread is good for this. We all just have to use self control and only give rep to someone that has helped you or another member (with actual help or with good advice) and not start trading it, giving bad rep where it is undeserved and what not...

I mean, should someone get bad rep because they did not give the best solution or maybe simply made a mistake or has a differing opinion? I think not.

I would give Sara bad rep because she hasn't added new smilies yet, but she has disabled it on herself :(

i think we can try this , wil the thing let you know who's given who reps? itll make it easier to monitor like if we notice that someone is going around just giving lots of rep to everyone or one person itll be obvious. can you make it so that people can only get reps from one person per thread? like in this thread if i already gave you rep, it wont let me from this thread again? that way there really is a limited number of reps someone can get, based on their activity
