Using Pictures in your blog

Do many people use pictures in their posts? I can say that I usually don't but I do like them in blog posts if they are done right. One of our members Emma, uses them to enhance the content for her post and she uses them well I think.

I just read a blog that made me absolutely starving. Look at the pictures on this food blog (http://blakemakes.com/)...absolutely delicious!

I don't use pictures very often because I don't have a digital camera, and using stock photography seems either unholy (without attribution) or clumsy and a pain in my ass (with attribution); so I end up doing things like scanning my head, which is actually quite awkward.

Does that food blog have pics of pizza? 'Cause that's just evil

I don't use pictures (yet), but I have thought about it. It'll probably be used when I get my personal site up and running (hopefully by the end of the month since I'm taking August off to get some personal projects done that I've been putting off for nearly two years now - I blame SitePoint :p).

i'm planning to use pics in my posts, once i find a good post to start with that would have an appropriate picture lol

I use pictures sometimes. Not very often though.

I mostly write about web sites, so usually use screenshots of them. I always use at least one image in each post (usually at least the logo of the company/site I am writing about). Images help break up longer posts and increase the likelihood that a reader will read it to the end.

My old Personal Blog has photos n stuff (not on Word press, but will be adding shortly) - just of me being crazy on the weekends hehe.

I think it adds to my character, gets people to know 'me' more. Then there is the element of being self obsessed and vain :D !

My other blog, no photos. But I will probably include a page of some funny ones. Like me when I was 5 on my first mac :D as I come up with more ideas of what to talk about (am struggling at the moment) I will probably try to illustrate my blog more often.

We pepper our blog kinda liberally with images but not every post. And I work try very hard to optimize the pics to squeeze the filesize down as low as possible without losing too much quality.

i use pictures for game reviews and hardware reviews.

other articles, it's a little hard to get images. :)

however i use an image for all my posts, which i've not come by any blog that does that. :D i just enjoying creating a banner for each article. let's see how long i can keep that up.

If a photo / picture will help illustrate what I am blogging about, then I will post a picture ... if it doesn't, I'm not going to put one in just to have a pic. That's just silly. :P

I have posted pictures with posts very rarely, unless it is a chart or graph. I do like when they help illustrate a topic though and need to do more picture posting. I am starting today by showing a picture of beer :D

I'm using pics all the time to balance my blog posts. To me, sometimes a long winded post will bore the readers so just hit some graphics to at least hold them for a while. ;)

I try to put a picture in every post. Usually, they are just logos of the company that I am writing about but I feel like it still helps add to the entry.

I'm planning to post a new picture every month on my weight loss blog. Hopefully within a few months, readers will be able to see the difference.

Calypso if it's about weight loss then you really gotta put some pictures! So that people can believe your content. Sometimes words can't convince much. Good luck. ;)

I started using them more. They make the blog more alive and the articles are less annoying this way

Since the beginning of 2007, I've been putting some sort of illustration on just about every post in my aviation news blogs. Sometimes they are photos, other times it's the logo of the airline or agency I'm writing about. If it's a photo, I always have a link to the source.

I like to use pictures in my articles. On some, I just couldn't find any image suitable, but most of the time I can find something to make it a little more visually appealing rather than just a bunch of text.
