With millions of colours to choose from why is blinding-red the one you went with?

I don't think the red is so bad, but it doesn't contrast very well with the light blue.

I enjoy it, Sara. It is very unique, crisp, and clean. Seems like a variant of Berries on Ice (http://www.colourlovers.com/palette/112041/berries_on_ice), minus the pinks. I think the light blue works well with the red.

Well, unique and fresh were things I was trying to go for. I realize for this site to be successful I need to do things different than everyone else and really stand out from the crowd. Hopefully I've done that so far.

i'm on a 20" LCD. so i see more RED then those with smaller screen. :P
and it hurts. could you just dim the red to like maroon or something? :) i mean seriously, with a blog and forum and all others, i'm sure you understand what it means to make people feel comfortable. :D

Yeah Sara. Do it now that someone else agrees that the blinding red's terrible and makes my eyes bleed.
I've got 3 x centimetre high red bars stretched all the way across my screen, trying to read the text between them's like trying to find the right change for a crackwhore in the dark.

hrmm. now where's this option in Firefox to disable CSS.
The Web Developer extension doesn't have a "DO NOT LOAD CSS" option.

well your opinions are taken into consideration but I also know that even if i changed it to something else, there will be others that dislike that and it would be a never-ending cycle of me trying to appease everyone. I'll never make everyone happy; I've been developing sites long enough to know that.
The red is part of the whole site design so I don't see it going anywhere. The forum theme might had more grey integrated into it to provide some contrast...similar to the style in the blog (http://www.theblogexperiment.com/blog)

Sara, how about shading it, like the orange bar on my side.
you could shade it from darker red to lighter red for the forum section titles while still keep intact the current blog / forum header.

What Im thinking of doing is changing the red in the threads to grey as I need to integrate that a bit more. The red would remain in the header as well as on the buttons and other accents. I'll probably mess with it a bit later this week, but can't promise anything. I like the overall feel of it all tbh.

I like color and although at first I found the site a little too glaringly red, it sort of grows on you after awhile. At least when it loads, I know I'm at the right place before I read a word. :)
Hey Sara -- what if you made the background red and accented it with white? ;)
OMG --- Calm down everyone! I was just kidding!!!!

I like the colors, and as Sara said - there will be always someone who doesn't like the current look.
Get used to it people. :p
Sara, the red looks nice. You have the best designed forum of all the ones I've been to. Trust your instincts. ;)

why not great a couple themes and people set it to what they want in their user options panel?

ohh. maybe its the added black icons that are throwing me off. at first they looked like locks by the way, i thought all the threads were locked (cause of the color, it looked like the lock icons)!
