I think I've asked this question before either here or on another forum, I can't remember. It's been so long that I don't even remember what was said in the discussion. But anyway...

I've started generating some ad sales through my sites and I'm wondering what information if any I need to keep for tax purposes? I'm really terrible in this arena but I'm trying to learn more about doing taxes and such. I'm basically making peanuts, but I still want to be legit as far as taxes and everything goes.

You are supposed to report all income. In some cases, this means you'll have to manually keep track, but in other cases, if you made enough, they might send you a 1099.

So, just keep tabs of any incoming payments in a spreadsheet or something. That would probably suffice for your needs. Just make sure to also keep track of all your expenses as well so you can offset some of the income and keep money out of uncle sam's grubby hands.
