View Full Version : How Do You Deal With Hate Comments?

Cedric

What happens when you post up a decent content and you receive a comment which is not constructive for example: "Your blog sucks just like your real self.". Beginners may freak out because they never expect this would happen but a bad boy like me received tons of hate comments asking me to go to hell blah blah blah EVEN THOUGH my post is decent.

I will usually ignore them and delete those comments. I wanna hear from you people, what would you do when you receive rude comments? Do you fire back as a reply? Or you'd just shut up and delete them?

I usually thank them for taking the time to comment.

I only once received very rude comment, which was more an personal insult, so I just deleted it.

If I got something like that, i would just delete it. Someone is just trolling. For something that is related to the topic but they disagree with me, i will leave it as long as it isn't flaming.

You should never take anything like that to heart either.

Happened to me once and I made a post with all of their comments collected and rebutted every single one of them :) No one calls me stupid or 'a product of reverse Darwinism' and gets away with it! *takes every thing to heart* Those comments happened after I started getting way to opinionated and angry at the world. They where a reality check to how many people I could be offending.

but at the end of the day it's your opinion *secret crush on Megan grows*

I've never received any true "hate" messages, but there are always outspoken people who are glad to voice their differing opinion and call you dumb/stupid/ignorant/etc.

Generally what I do is I type out a reply as to how I actually feel and want to respond to that person, curse words and all. When I'm done, I don't hit the submit button. Instead, I close the window, go about my business and revisit it later, and by then I've gotten out all of my initial frustration and can comment in a more mature and helpful manner.

I've never had one, but I'm looking forward to it!

Maybe that's why I don't have a boyfriend......:D ha! Dan I just looked at your blog, and I love Futurama too! Bender baby yeah!

Oliver.......Never mind, I don't know what to say to that :p

I suppose that if you are going to be opinionated and brash and get on a soapbox then you should have the expectation that this may happen.

As far as I'm concerned, hate comments are why they delete button was invented!

Now, if I get a comment that offers reasonable or constructive criticism, I'll let that one stand, but I see no reason to allow myself or my readers to be assaulted with hateful, ignorant words.

If the comment is both rude and not constructive, I'll delete it. If it's rude and constructive, I'll leave it there, and possibly reply to it. It just depends on my mood.

I just ignore them. Delete the comment like nothing happened. I don't even blog about it.

Strangely some people will blog about the hate comments he/she receives and make a big fuss outta it, to me it's not necessary and the main reason why the person who sent hate comment is to piss you off and if you fell into his trap, he's glad! :D

Nobody hates me :(

It's ironic, because I hate everybody.

Okay so I'm gonna start looking out for hate comments from you.

I wish I was mature enough to realise that - but no, when someone wants to put me down and give me crap I have to have the last word - typical arrogance of a Leo :)

Haha. Yeah. Ditto. :D

Cedric

Ditto there! :D

I just feel that if you can trace who the hell is doing that and you make a big post dedicated to him, with his details. That would be more fun. And it also depends on what type of comments he gave. Like if he talks about your mom and dad... That would be.... URGH!!!! Fucked up!

Yeah, tracing. I'm good at that btw.

I'm not going to blog about hate comments, for me they are just attention whores, so why da F I'm going to give them a spotlight.

Cedric

Work that girl, cool attitude, F those attention whores, but u can never criticize a famewhore cuz that's me. LOL

I set the blog engine to always require my approval on all comments. :) easier way to handle hate comments - however so far I get good mostly good comments (c'mon, i write tech stuff!!)

on the other hand i got my first (and only) HATE e-mail the other day. and it's got nothing to do with what I posted.

I was at another forum and I think someone just didn't like me for a while. :P

Cedric

This happens all the time. Sometimes people spam you with hate comments just for the kicks. Yeah if you just moderate your comments and ignore these people. You'll live your life happily. :)

Megan

....*is thinking maybe she should change her arrogant ways*....... Nah I don't think so :D

Cedric

Megan, I don't moderate that much anyway, if I see any idiots come around shooting me without any reasons and if it involves my mother, my father, grandma, aunt and uncles. Whoa... he better pray to God that he doesn't wake up seeing bloods all over him.

I tend to ignore them unless they say something particular hateful or attacking. Usually I leave them to their ignorance.

I would paint the walls with their insides :) Ok, they would probably have to touch them to make me that angry. People who drag your family into things just to hurt you are idiots... Obviously they have no real intelligence.

Or souls. Which is a real shame since these people should be doing something constructive, like finding Jimmy Hoffa.

Cedric
08-08-2007, 02:24 AM
These people will even come back and tell u that, "Yeah I have no souls.", unless u really can track them down and shoot them with their identities being exposed... Woohoo that's when the party starts. LOL

Dan Schulz
08-08-2007, 02:42 AM
No, the party starts when I get hired to clean up the mess and hand you a mop and bucket. :)

Megan
08-08-2007, 04:23 AM
:D Who is Jimmy Hoffa? No one should pay much attention to people who threaten via a key board though. Unless they start acting like a stalker!

Oh, and when it comes to people seeing their own blood on them or painting the walls with blood, just remember that violence is never the answer. "Violence?" is a question. "Damn Skippy!" is the answer. :p

(Just kidding.)

I'll remember that when I blog about how bad Australian beer is just because of Fosters. :p

Megan

I only drink Corona (cos it tastes nice with lemon) but otherwise hate beer :)

I have a photo with me and a corona to - funny shit.

I try to discern...

If you come to my blog and tell me it sucks .. I'll just ignore you. Not giving me REASONS it's bad would make me think you're not worth my time.

If you come to tell me WHY my blog is not OK, I'll be all ears to see what makes your experience bad. A negative comment with a reason is useful: any feed-back can make me work more and make a better project

Cedric
08-08-2007, 06:38 PM
Damn right, we need constructive comments, not those useless junks in our blogs. Usually when someone hits me with some bad comments I'll be like, "yada yada talk to my .... " Okay I ain't gon complete my sentence here. :P
