Goodness! I haven't the time to read very many blogs, I am in awe at how many some of you can read!! What makes you subscribe to a blog? Just the content? Or have you subscribed just because the blogger is a friend?

If its a close friend I usually subscribe right away because I want to stay up to date. Otherwise if I see myself returning to the blog because I like it's content, then I will subscribe.

A good article, word of mouth, friendship, and admittedly I have subscribed to a few based on popularity.

I usually subscribe when I find one that I am really interested in reading. Generally I tend to stay in certain catagories.

Yep! I will only subscribe to interesting blogs, and of course some good friends'. But despite friendship, I will unsubscribe if my friends do not update their blogs. So basically it's up to how the blogger impresses his readers.
I have never subscribed to one. I have a few cyber friends that blog so I check theirs out relatively regularly, but I find that I already have too many other regular sites to check out on a daily basis (like this one!) so blogs have to take a back seat.

A good article and an indication that the blog is updated frequently is usually enough for me to subscribe somewhere

good content, but most of the stuff in my feed reader is news sites, not blogs, so I don't subscribe to many at all.

I subscribe a blog because of the content. Of course I also subscribe my friends' blogs but I only read them once in a while.

Nothing could make me subscribe to a blog. I don't even use an RSS reader anymore (used to use sharpreader) and I use Opera but don't use the built in RSS reader either.
Nobody consistently writes stuff I want to read except book authors.

I often subscribe to blogs that I know will be good sources of information for my own blogs.
Helps when you have a case of writers block.

Friendships, information I think might be useful (online or off), passing interests, personalities, trying to cure boredom...

Because writing can be lonely work, I tend to subscribe to other writer's blogs. As long as the content is fresh and updated frequently, I'm in!
