So, how do you do it?

Do you link to blogs you like or when you see they link to you?

Do you limited yourself on certain number of links?

I know I hate to see someone's blogroll with more than 20-30 links in there.

When it's less, I tend to check those blogs as well.

I keep mine fairly short and stick to sites I think my readers would benefit from reading. I don't mind doing link exchanges, but like you said, I don't want a 20-30 blog long list. So if someone new requests a link I'll usually subscribe to their site and read it to make sure they keep it updated and provide good content and I may eventually add it.

I agree, less is better, if you're friends with everyone then you're friends with no one....

I have a script that randomly grabs 5 from my blogroll and displays them.

I have a links page on my blog which is devoted to "pages I like". It shows what I'm reading basically. I really dislike the look of blogrolls as they tend to get long and ugly. Sidebars are already extremely cluttered as it is.

I usually add those bloggers in my blogroll when I notice that they've added me or when they requested for it.

BOOO, you're hogging all the front page pagerank to yourself! :p

i know!!! It's very naughty. I will probably expand on it someday. I just don't want it to look tacky you know?

I don't have one at all anymore. I used to have a few friends on there but they never updated their blogs so I gave up!

I do the same as Sara. The blogs I link to are those I subscribe to the feeds of and read every day. :)

I just add those I read and related to my blog. Since the links in the blogroll are going to make your visitors leave your blog, I think we should not put more attention on it and keep it as short as possible. :)

I only really read one blog, and I don't keep one so meh. My blogroll is non-existant.

I link to blogs I like. I don't ask for a reciprocal link and I wouldn't give a link for a link.

I don't have a blogroll. I'd rather just send out a link in a post if they're writing well.

On my older blogs I use it for link exchanges and or to promote my own sites.

My newest blogs I don't use them at all.

My blogrolling philosophy is pretty much in line with shyflower's, although I'm learning not to link too quickly. It's good to know that whomever you've just linked to isn't on the verge of jumping the megalodon.
