I am working on a Wordpress theme at the moment that requires a gallery. I also want to use Lightbox for loading gallery images.

I have noticed the Lightbox plugin for wordpress but that doesn't handle the gallery side, I would be left to manually limit images per page, creating archives etc. So, I'm looking for a decent gallery plugin with which I can integrate lightbox unless there are any with it already integrated?

What would you recommend?

Have you checked out NextGen Gallery (http://alexrabe.boelinger.com/wordpress-plugins/nextgen-gallery/), Dave? It's EASY and has the Lightbox thing.

I recommend you move to ExpressionEngine :naughty: ;)

It can do what you need easily (I'm doing it now).

Yeah, I think that's going to be my own personal thing around here... if someone asks for recommendations, my answer will be try EE. :naughty: I have to try to counter all you WP people! I am out numbered.

That $249 price tag could be a major stumbling block...

Never paid that price tag, so I wouldn't know. Never developed a commercial site. :)

I've heard a lot of people say that though but once they try it out they see even $250 is probably under priced. I used to be the same way... I was never paying for something that I could get for free and there are a lot of free CMS's. I tried 10 or so with TextPattern being my favorite but it just couldn't do what I wanted and I noticed a lot of "big names" using EE so I switched and I'm glad I did.

I have never used EE, I bet is is a great piece of software. I use WP basically because it is what I know how to use. If I had started with EE I would probably recommend it, just as I do WP.

Though Deron I am curious, what is it you did not like about WP that got you to switch to EE in the first place?

Yeah, I really have nothing against WP at all. To be honest, I have never once used it. The reason I never used it when I was making the switch from TextPattern to something else (didn't know what at the time) is because everything I read said that to get the most out of WP, you really need to have some decent PHP skills. Well, I had zero and didn't really care to learn or go down that path so I stayed far away from it.

Now THAT's a selling point!

I have no php skills and I get by with it, though by all means if my skills were better, there is alot more I could do with it, or at least I could do it alot easier.

There is a template tag or a plug in for almost everything I have been asked to make WP do.

Though I could probably come up with a few things, like being able to get wp_list_pages to list the sub pages of a parent page using an image from each posts custom fields for the link vs text... I can get it to do half of that (the custom fields part) just not with the wp_list_pages function.. :p

If you're going to be making money with your site a $250 investment should not be breaking the bank.

If you're going to be making money with your site a $250 investment should not be breaking the bank.

Let me fix that: If you're already making money with your site, a $250 investment should not be breaking the bank.

If you haven't made any, and are just attempting to, it can definitely be a bank-breaker. Or at least throwing good money after bad.
