Most blog post will show the title of the post, the author of the post and where it's posted; like posted in website design.

I'm thinking that nobody cares about the "posted in" link and just removed it from www.search-this.com.

What do you guys think? I nixed it - good call or not?

Personally, I think without the "posted in" link it's cleaner, less distracting and the link simply doesn't need to be there....

I think that when you leave the category in, you have a better chance of someone interested in that topic looking through the archives of that category.
For instance, someone seeing Tommy's article on tables might think that they could find more articles by him n databases. Leaving the category in defines Web Design as one of his areas of expertise.

Aesthetically it might look cleaner, but I think user-friendly is more important than aesthetics.

Hey Linda, I hear what you're saying, but the categories are a eye-twitch away on the right. So it's redundant. Without them it's less trips to the database too, making things faster.

I haven't looked at Wordpress in a while, but that might not be right. Is there a separate database call when the_category() is called, or is all that information preloaded somewhere else?

Anyway, maybe just move the category? For example, something like this at the bottom of your posts:

Category: Cars | Comments: 2 | Trackbacks: 1

Well here's the thing... if they don't know what category the post is in, it doesn't matter how their eyes twitch. Although we might think its pretty easy to understand that an article about html tables is in web design, a noob or lay person might think its a part of databases.

That might be a stretch, but I think you can see my point. Anyway, you asked -- it's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it! :p

yep, I want to hear opinions, you don't have to agree with me, just means you're wrong ;)
