I'm Chris Stewart. I run a technology blog at CompiledMonkey.com and produce a weekly technology audio podcast called Kill The Desktop with Matt Morton. I also founded 913solutions, LLC, a technology firm that will debut in the next few years. Lastly, I've started a community for Subversion users called SubversionForum.com.

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University's Information Systems Department in Richmond, VA. I've worked at various technology companies in a wide range of roles since late 2001. My current role is the Vice President of Technology at a local new media company.

That's the brief version. :D

I get weird stares at the start of an interview. I've never been able to figure out whether it was because my resume is 4 pages long, or because I'm 24. :o

I get weird stares at the start of an interview. Same. It was only recently that I learned it was inappropriate to wear a bikini to interviews. The staring has since stopped.

I always like to impress new members with my expertise. What in the world is subversion? I thought it was one of those anti-everything groups at first.

By the way... welcome Chris! :)

Oh never mind... I just took a peek at your blog and I see that it's "the open source version control system that’s a replacement for CVS" whatever CVS is.:o

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Linda, Subversion is a piece of software that makes it easy to keep track of changes to a file (or set of files) over time. At its core, that the problem that Subversion can solve. It's most often used by programmers to manage source code and documents that go along with a project. For us, it's invaluable to have a history of changes made. If someone screws up, or something happens to a file, you can easily go back in the history for that file and get a version that worked. Briefly, that's Subversion. Of course I could talk about it for hours, and hours, and hours... :D

Of course, meant in the very nicest way.... Please don't! :D

...but thanks for the info. If I ever need it, at least I'll know what it's called!
