If your a blogger than you surely have some kind of stat tracker tool, i used to choose the Awstats (came with my Cpanel) but since the start of this year i have been using http://w3counter.com, the stats provided are pretty impressive including live view of who's online now on my blog and where there came from and what they are reading now...simply superb.

What about you?

I used to always use Google Analytics. A few weeks ago I wanted to try out w3counter and I haven't opened GA since. I even upgraded to the paid account and may get the max so I can have more of my sites on there. I love it!

I use analytics but I do not check my stats very often. I used to use some other stat deal but I do not remeber the name and there code was slowing down my page loads so I got rid of it.

The W3Counter was developed by Dan Grossman (http://www.theblogexperiment.com/blog-forum/member.php?u=9) and he has a bunch of great tools at his AWIO site (http://www.awio.com/).

I also use Google Analytics. Before I try W3Counter, can you use it for more than one site and sites you manage as well as your own?

For my blog I have also been using stats from feedburner (http://www.feedburner.com/).

Oh! W3Counter looks pretty!

I can't get Google Analytics to work with my blog. :(

Right now, I'm using Branica (which was the first tracker I installed, but I'm thinking about trimming it), pMetrics (http://pmetrics.performancing.com/) (which is pretty cool, easy to understand, but slow), and Reinvigorate/Snoop (http://www.reinvigorate.net/).

Snoop is just awesome because it gives audible alerts, in real time, everytime one of your tracked pages is hit. It'll probably drive me nuts if I ever get a decent amount of traffic!

I'd like to check out W3Counter but currently I'm using Google Analytics. I use PodTrac for Kill The Desktop and it's quite an awesome tool for podcasters to track their downloads.

I use analytics and the tools that come free with the WP hosting.

The free account is limited to tracking a single website, but has all the same reports as the premium accounts. They start at $4.95 per month for 3 websites and go up from there.

If you're curious how useful a non blog-specific web stats program can be for a blog, you can take a look at my blog's stats here (http://www.w3counter.com/stats/4493). I keep refreshing the latest referrers (http://www.w3counter.com/stats/live_referrers/4493/20/0) report all day myself :)

Thanks Dan :D

What if I have 3 sites this month and 6 next month? Is there a break on the upgrade?

When you upgrade from one premium plan to a higher one, you're not charged the higher price until the next billing cycle (30 days from the last charge). So, effectively, you get up to a month at the lower price.

I use GA and statcounter. However, I don't check it very often. Dan's counter looks quite good. I may give it a try.

Statcounter, analytics and AW stats.

Statcounter is great because it's so real time.

Analytics gives you tones of data more then you even imagine until you get there.

Aw Stats is alright and I mainly use it for referrer traffic.

Analytics for some sites, W3counter for the others.

Sorry but it's easier to pitch "GOOGLE!" at work ;)

We're actually going to do our next Kill The Desktop (see sig) episode on Web Analytics. So, to speak to W3Counter I went ahead and signed up. I'm wondering how you all feel about why you'd choose one over the other.

1. I like the way data is presented to me. It's ALOT more easier to find what I'm looking for there than in GA.
2. The Live stats. They really speak for themselves.

I would recommend trying it for a couple of weeks and seeing what you think.

I've always used AWStats and Google Analytics - but have been thinking about making the switch to Dan Grossman's product because I've only heard great things.

It's not an either-or decision. You don't have to switch; you can use all three :)

GoStats.com (http://gostats.com) is my stats system of choice. I swear by it.

Just switched to w3Counter and couldn't be happier with the stats it provides.
