Do you get bored by your own theme? How often do you change it?

The theme I'm using now will stay quite a long time because I actually PAID for it. Haha so I don't wanna buy another theme or change it just yet. ;)

My theme for ilovecode used to change quite a bit but I just did a major overhaul and don't plan on changing again for a while. My other blogs haven't changed but I put money into having those designed (custom graphics, etc.)

I have had 3 themes on my current blog. I had 4 or 5 on my last personal blog and I am working on a new one now, so I change alot.

I LOVED your old theme ben with the little house. You should consider packaging that up and giving it away... or maybe selling it and its rights to someone (me)

Ha that little house, if only I could actually draw that could have been a good looking little village or something... I actually made a better version of that layout, but got sick of it in the middle of the finishing touches and started on a new one. Now I am almost ready to launch it, and have only been sick of it for a few weeks ;) :p

Hey Ben, I liked the little house one too. Part of the charm was that it was so simple. You gotta bring that one back, it was a gem!

Or sell it to me. I would like to offer themes on the site that can only be downloaded here so if ben you dont want to use it anymore, seriously.. let me know!

I've never really changed mine. When I first got started I had something a bit different, although it was still the monochromatic style and had 2 columns instead of 3. After going for a couple months I found the current theme have and I've stuck with it for the past 7 or 8 months.

Still sticking with it and it is in the process of getting a slightly updated header (Thanks Ben!) the theme is going to remain the same and probably will for a long time.

When you use free themes changing it seems almost mandatory. If you have a good one everyone trys to use it :)

But when you pay for a custom one it seems your blog fans identify you by it and dont take kindly to major changes. Just like in a forum setting ;)

bottom line, do blog theme play a big role for your blog? i know it will be the 1st impression right, but do we actually need a theme to 100% suit our blog? let say im im writing about business blog, so my theme should be business theme.. any idea?

Thanks. Yeah I tend to do more presenting of facts and information so I tend towards a clean cut and non-flashy design. Once the new header is done it will look even better, more streamlined and have some useful navigation :)

I stuck with the same one for 1.5 years. A couple of months ago I decided to change it and I'm still not sure I've done the right thing. Although the new one looks heaps better, there is no search function.

Do you guys use the search functions on blogs much?

I do not do much searching myself. What sort of control do you have over the themes at WP.com maybe you can add a search feature. It depends on the theme. You can add widgets to some of them, but not the theme I'm using.

I typically find myself only searching my own blog. I will need to reference something I wrote so I search it. I think that is the only time I search. You brought up a great question though!

I don't use search on other people's blogs as well. I would usually browse categories if I'm looking for certain post, but search somehow slips away.

I tend not to change the designs as I design them myself and I can't find the time to design another one.

I rarely change theme layouts nowadays.

I would like to change it more often, but it shares the same theme with a splash page, a forum and a directory. The splash page is simple to modify, but putting a new design on 3 different scripts does take time and I just don't have any right now

it wouldn't be a good idea to keep changing themes.

it may confuse readers, and it may even show that you're fickle.

choose 1, stick to it. modify accordingly to the growth of your site.

I'm reluctant to change my theme, because I think readers get used to one thing, kind of like a trademark. If it's constantly changing, they might think the tone (or even the writer) of the blog is changing as well and go elsewhere.

I am not where I want to think About changing I just modified a theme and the process just has don't touch me written all over it.
